Fortunately they do not write the laws and our state house and senate are doing the real work and pretty solid no matter who is in the gov office. On one hand, all the people saying the time for protest votes is the primary are forgetting that the reason he won the nomination was by getting all the powers that be to pressure everyone else to drop out under threat of their future career being over. He never polled above single digits on his own. There's also another longer term lesser of two evils case to be made that setting the example for the Ohio GOP that pulling the stunt they pulled to get Vivek nominated can reliably be expected to backfire and people like Vivek don't win elections, is more important in the long run than the consequences of letting Amy Acton be governor for a little bit. On the other hand, I honestly don't know if the rest of his politics are particularly rightwing at all. I know he's a big supporter of H1Bs and lots of immigration, but perhaps his other rightwing credentials are good enough to make him the lesser of two evils. |
