It’s been explained several times. The Ohio GOP officially endorsed VR before the primary and forced all viable candidates out of the primary with threats to future funding. Ohio Republican voters were not allowed to decide who the GOP candidate would be this year.

We had multiple better options with proven records that were removed from the process. The irony is everyone from other states keeps telling us to vote VR due to “muh freedom“, yet he was anointed by a political party ignoring their base à la Kamala.

And no, I don’t suggest voting for the D either. Both are horrible options.

My little brother is hard on the /pol narrative. Wants us all to be replaced by H1Bs and will ban beef because of his Hindu beliefs (we done that one yet in this thread?). The “I’ll never vote for a non Christian Hindu” crowd here is always fun to see.

I’m voting for him because Acton is like others have stated a noxious democrat weed that will install hard left bureaucrats that would take generations to tear out. They didn’t even find a Fetterman type, just straight leftist trash.

Vivek has his own problems. Trump aligned grifter is the ground level perception. I get a lot of his campaign’s content and he comes off as faking the Everyman thing hard. Tactically she is correct not to debate him though, he is a rock solid debater and she risk coming off as a fool. If he wasn’t as polarizing by default this would be a huge liability for her. For me I don’t think trashing jocks and prom queens was a smart play but his point about eroding American exceptionalism, thanks to decades of leftist propaganda, testing is racist, DEI hiring, government gimme culture, participation trophies, etc isn’t wrong he just framed it entirely incorrectly and came off as a smarmy foreigner trashing the country.

The only thing he has been rock solid on is guns, he has been talking an inside game about gun laws and gun rights I’ve never heard a major candidate talk about. Even if it turns out to be pandering it’s leagues ahead of the vast majority of republican candidates that barely mention it and just assume gun voters will just vote R anyway.

Remember, when you vote for the lesser of two evils, you're still voting for evil.

And before you roll out the "sorry your girl lost" and other hurr durr crap, until this year, I've been voting solid Republican for almost 40 years.  The only times we didn't have to struggle financially were during the Clinton years and GWB's first term.  Neither party has done a darn thing to help us out.

There it is again...

I don't know where you heard this (probably here), but it's not true.

Do some research.

Here is his documented stance on immigration:

- Complete overhaul of the system
- Zero tolerance on illegal immigration, even using the military to secure the southern border
- Merit based H1B system, abolish the lottery

Yup, he did say Americans are lazy when comparing them to the rest of the world. Making the argument that other countries are pumping out a higher skilled workforce than we are, thus giving more options to businesses to either take their work overseas, or hire more skill from abroad, and he's not wrong. Do you think fortune 500's give a shit if they hire American or Indian? They exist to make a profit. If India is pumping out higher skilled engineers, and they cost less... They are hiring Indians. If they can't, they have the option of completely moving their operation offshore, and that's been done time and time again.

These are all facts.

Anyone here is welcome to dispute it. I welcome the discussion. I want to have this discussion because I believe Vivek is the best, most conservative, candidate we have possibly ever seen in Ohio and I cannot wrap my head around why he is getting trashed other than a bunch of lies and misinformation.

Change my mind.
What is a democrat? Someone who wants everything you have, except for your job.

Politicians should wear uniforms like NASCAR drivers so we could see their corporate sponsors.

Right, but what if the party removes the primary process and doesn't let you vote for a candidate of your choice? Should we still support that party without question and reward them with our vote? Because that is how we got VR.

There is a time and place to fix all of this and it's not the general election. If you don't like your primary choices get involved with your local Republican committee and start pushing better options.

The Republican insiders, Yost included made a strategic choice about how to appropriate resources. They concluded a contended primary wasn't desirable, but the process still happened.

I used to work with Dave Yost before he resigned. He was not included in the decision making process to anoint VR and was caught off guard when the announcement was made. He has withdrawn from the party due to how he was treated.

Sure he didn't like it but he still suspended his campaign. He removed himself from the ballet. Why? Because continuing was a lost cause and wasting resources.

And no I have no insider knowledge. I don't know all the behind closed door politics and personalities. Maybe I can explain this to all the "support the team" people. Sure, Ramaswamy would be better than communist Acton. WE ALL KNOW THAT. However, I am sick and tired of getting grifter bullshit artist politicians who are NOT Constitutionalists pushed on me for four decades by a phony Republicrat Party: Bushes, Romney, McCain, Moreno, etc., etc.. Ramaswamy is a grifter. He was not even a conservative 10 years ago, maybe even 6 years ago. He latched on to 2A talking points because he wound up in the Republican Party as a billionaire (a crooked one at that) with connections to globalist billionaires who currently use the Republican Party for their advantages. Ramaswamy is openly pushing for data centers and has also stated he is NOT for abolishing Marxist property taxes (although he seems to be acting like he supports getting rid of them now since it's a huge issue here - yeah sure he does). None of us want Acton to win but we are so sick of these low bar bullshit candidates who are out for themselves.

Most of you here (who live in another state) bitching at us to just vote Ramaswamy and keep quiet have zero idea of who he is - you just want us to get in lock step with whoever Trump picks for us.

VR is a lousy candidate, and will be a crappy governor if elected. That much is certain.

The legislature needs to remain solidly R, and that will prevent him from screwing up too much.

More importantly, the administrative control of the governor being under an R administration will be miles ahead of turning over the reigns of the administrative system to D. Even under a POS like VR.

FOGOP for screwing the primaries to manipulate VR into the position he's in.

Oh, you can "punish" the GOP any time you want.

Voters in Virginia did that too.  They stayed home in droves.  About 500,000 of them.

Heard anything about what the Dems did in Virginia?

The ONLY reason Repubs will have any more voice at all in Virginia is that the Dems, moving in haste and arrogance, kind of, sort of violated state law when they jammed through the "no more Republicans" congressional map.

Had the Dems merely been more patient, Republican US House Seats would have become pretty much EXTINCT in Virginia.

Sure. Show your anger at the GOP. Stay home. Don't vote.

But when the Dems make moves to make your chance at political power extinct, remember. You enabled it to happen

I feel the same way about Mike Collins here in GA but Ossoff has to go so.

I think Ossoff will easily win the race, dems are throwing a ton of money into the race partially because Ossoff is a rising star for the party. Collins is not engaging, exciting or IMO capable of being a good senator. Yet another country-club GA republican out of touch with most voters so I think this is a safe seat for the dems.

Helping a Democrat get elected and the untold butt fucking that bitch would do to our state by sitting out or protest voting is the stupidest of decisions that won’t teach the party anything and we fuck our rights and state for years.

Without some Tea Party fervency by the electorate on the ground level state parties are going to keep putting up who they put up. Republican voters are notoriously complacent in midterms. Play the game as it lies.

You are actively working against everyone’s rights and livelihoods not voting for the opposite of Amy acton. Full stop.

This, everyone should convince their blue acquaintances to not vote as a protest of their shitty choices / democrat socialist.  Will they ? Nope they show up and vote blue no matter who.

This has happened in literally every place democrats get in power. They will direct every single dollar and then some to their machine, and you my friend will look so wildly stupid for allowing this because you seriously misunderstand how this crap works.

Dont be retarded, dude. Dont just hand them over free money, that is literally brainlet tier BS.

Edit: and on that note this is explicitly why these ""principled conservative"" types are exactly some of the dumbest voters imaginable, even stupider than most democrats. They have 0 understanding that these people are corrupt and dont play by the rules, and constantly fall into this idea that they are honest lol.

So Vivek wanting to extend school hours and make them open year round so the government can raise people’s kids is the definition of “conservative values” now? This is straight out of Sweden.

What are Vivek’s appointees going to be like? What happens with their budgets?

And guess what? Using their budgets to elect Democrats is illegal. And legislatures control budgets and have oversight! It’s part of separation of powers.

Anyway, I never said someone should support the Democrat, I was just making the point that just because Vivek has an “R” next to his name doesn’t mean he’s a good choice. OP should follow his conscience.

To the posters saying they won’t vote for Viveck, he has been solidly and consistently pro 2A in his messaging. Contrast that with everyone on the left who is gleeful about fucking us on the 2A. No candidate is perfect for all things. Do you think the left isn’t on board for massive imports of H1b workers and even more unwashed 3rd world hoards? We recently saw this self destructive behavior by conservatives and independents in Virginia and look where that got us - a massive blue takeover with immediate draconian gun laws and huge tax hikes.

Wake up and do the right thing.

You won't punish the Ohio GOP by not voting for Vivek. You will only screw yourelf bigly.

You need to wrest power from the GOP. You gather up like-minded individuals en-mass, and outvote those in power. Until then you will get Vivek, Dewine, Kasich...

You kick the RINOs out of power. That's how you punish them. Otherwise, you are at their mercy, and have to vote for the lesser of 2 evils.

Yeah, totally... Because some guy on the internet said so.

Don't vote for Vivek because this guy said so.
What is a democrat? Someone who wants everything you have, except for your job.

Politicians should wear uniforms like NASCAR drivers so we could see their corporate sponsors.
