I can think of at least 4 horse groups in our area who would do it for free. Including one technical rescue group. Heck county animal control could be brought in, ours is hand and hand with the sheriff as is. |

We have several officers who still ride or own horses I had horses and goats growing up. No problems there. I carried a lead in my gear bag for any loose animals with a halter. The biggest repeat issue for us were the cows. Some farmers don't understand that good fences make for good neighbors. One coworker got so tired of the repeat calls to the same farms that he researched it and found some obscure law from decades ago that required farmers properly maintain their fencelines. The time the bison escaped from the bison farm I *think* was the one time local law enforcement had no solution to the problem. The owner ended up shooting them because even he admitted there was no way to get them back onto his property. As far as wildlife goes, there was a time around 20 years ago when the return of bears to our county was a hotly debated topic A lot of people were in denial that we had bears until photos of them raiding bird feeders started showing up on social media Now the debate is about bobcats being in the county. same debate over whether they are here or figments of peoples imagination I'm out of the game so it doesn't matter to me unless I meet an animal face to face on a hiking trail. |

At least the K9 handler was trying to use noise to scare it off first, which is somewhat reasonable. Odds are he would have been more effective just raising his arms and shouting, though.
