I have 2 computers on the same router. According to "My Network Places", they can see each other fine. And until 3 weeks ago, they could transfer files back and forth just fine too. Then I installed SP2 on both of them. Now they both tell me that permissions aren't set (they appear to be the same as before SP2). I've tried turning off the built-in firewall, but that did no good. Any idea of what the problem could be? |

Just ensure the firewall is *disabled* on both machines, in the network properties. Then, ensure you have a folder "shared" on both, and in the share permissions, set it to "everyone" and "full control" Then, if the partitions are NTFS, you have to set the same level of security on those. If you arent a member of any domain.... its best if your two machines are members of the same workgroup, and you log on to each with the exact same username and password..... and both of those accounts are local administrators. |
