Yeah, I'm very leery of driving in or around AR.

I get the deterrent effect of the PIT/chase, but you're dealing with some seriously stupid people who are not rational.
So if you want to PIT that bad - it absolutely has to be with no other vehicles or people anywhere near the maneuver...

And you have to admit, just a little bit, with today's technology - you can find these people later AND the chase causes stupid people to do stupider shit...

edit:  Watching the video, chase #2 points out the driver had 3 passengers who were essentially taken hostage once the chase began - what's the point of endangering the hostages?

I'm fairly certain the vast majority, if not all, of these incidents happen around Little Rock. The cops don't give a shit because Little Rock is a shit hole.

I'm not concerned about the one being PIT'ed.

I'm concerned about being anywhere near one of these death chases...

I wonder why Grapple tech isn't more widespread?

Wrapping a net around a suspects axel and dragging them to a stop seems a lot safer than PITing at 100mph. The videos of it being employed are pretty cool.

West Memphis generates a lot because the criminals know Memphis does not chase.

I have zero issues with perps dying.  They are committing attempted murder/murder by running and should be treated as such.  I hate the weight possibly on the officer's shoulders for the rest of their lives but they are providing a needed service.

Criminals are not rational at all. Working in Corrections for 32 years, I can attest to that. Some guys would rather be pepper-sprayed and get their ass beaten rather than follow a simple command.

How many other states are as ruthless as ASP.  The only others I see are Georgia and Florida.  Maybe just because they put their shit on YT and other states are reluctant to do so.

I drive in Arkansas daily.
Mostly unconcerned, although you do get occasional driver who seems intent on killing themselves and others.
But I have never been pitted.
Nor do I run from the police.
Once in a while I wonder if someone will try to "run" from the police overland in 4wd. That might be fun to see. A 10 mph chase!

By running from the police, it's almost like they're saying "no, fuck that, I don't want to go to court, or have a trial, or get my due process. I'm NOT playing that game!"

If you run, you'll get chased. PIT is always authorized by me. Whatever the results, it's on the runner. I have less than zero sympathy. The narrator in that video is a moron. He's all tears and wailing over the criminals, but never considers the victims of the original crimes, let alone all the people they could have killed, driving like assholes.

Mandatory prison time for running also needs to be added.  Ten years mandatory added on to and above any other charges with no possibility of parole.

The silver/grey Lexus that veers over the median (w/o a PIT) is in there twice, so only 9 cases in video.

Living in a neighboring state, I’ve travelled thru AR a lot, and have seen lots of speeders, but I’ve yet to see a chase like any of those, or a PIT maneuver.

If they run, I’m OK with them doing a PIT, hopefully they try to be sure a 3rd, 4th, or more cars are not innocently involved.

Ga. and Fl. are all over the tube. Fl. is Scooper and Ga. is State Boyzz and County Boyzz . Lots of chases with bad outcomes for violent felons. One in Ga. ejected both felons because seat belts are oppressing the one brain cell. He had previously ran in a stolen car and had no qualms about doing it again, because Atlanta will not put violent felons in jail.

grapples cost more up front, PITs usually work okay, because most are not going 75mph+

Nearby Thurston County recently got the grapple, and have now used it a few times IRL.
