I can't believe I'm posting about this, but I have had some problems with him before. He wrote me threatening notes in the past. They keep their cans. He built onto my property a few inches using paving stones a few years ago. I really did not care, but when I talked to him before, he came across as very nosy and now I see he is being an asshat. Residential neighborhood. I have about 10 feet on that side of my house to his mom's 5 feet. He works in Portland and spends every weekend at his mom's house, not sure if he is on the deed. So I'm 99.9% sure he left his and his mom's garbage cans in my yard on purpose. As I bought some concrete yard dividers to replace some rotting landscape timber and that might have sent him off. I have not started the work yet. I try to avoid him as I'm an introvert and do not like conflict. He comes across as a hothead, and I do not think he has any kids. he is in his early 50s So what should I do with their garbage and recycling bins? I'm thinking of moving them out to the street, as it constitutes trespassing and I can not park my car on the side of the house with moving the cans and some outside items I just bought. I plan to sell this house sooner or later, and he does kind of scare me as I have seen his anger issues. Added: He did this on purpose as no one was cleaning the concrete walkway and they have a big gate on the other side of their backyard that opens to a different street( they live on the corner). |

You sound too passive to deal with the problem. If the garbage cans are on your property, why can’t you move them back to his property?? |

I have a weird neighbor situation as well. She’s old and senile. Somehow she got it in her head to rip everything living thing out of her yard and cover every square inch with mulch. Not good decomposable mulch but the shit tier painted bark they sell at Lowe’s. Every fall the Santa Ana winds blow that shit all over my yard and my Gardner has to hand pick it out of my wife’s roses. If I didn’t have any compassion I would have already beat her face in with a shovel but the poor lady has Biden level dementia. She’ll be gone from Earth within the next few years so I’m just letting it slide. Not sure what this has to do with your post OP other than I feel your pain. |

I thought of that before, it is only 2 inches by about 10 feet and just tile, no fence. But I'm going find the PL stake tomorrow and go from there. If they try to claim adverse possession on such a small piece of property would be laughable. Cans are going back to the street or garbage service in the morning. *Pictures later, I just like AR advice. |

https://www.abct.org/fact-sheets/assertiveness-training/ How Is Assertiveness Training Done? Therapists help clients figure out which interpersonal situations are problems for them and which behaviors need the most attention. In addition, therapists help to identify beliefs and attitudes the clients may have developed that lead them to become too passive. Therapists take into account the clients’ particular cultural context in this process. Therapists may use a combination of interviews, tests, or role-playing exercises as part of this assessment. Therapists help clients understand what assertiveness is and how behaving assertively may be helpful. Inaccurate or unproductive attitudes and beliefs about assertiveness are discussed. Once clients understand the importance of assertive behavior for their situation, therapists help them develop more assertive behaviors. |

Lol, he's got a whole fucking yard and he's putting his shit on your yard because he thinks you're a pussy and you're doing nothing to prove him wrong. These kind of people will walk over you and piss on you while doing it. I'd kick that shit as hard as I could into their yard and tell him to stay the fuck off my land. Btdt, had a neighbor build a fence in my yard and I kicked that shit loose and threw it in their yard. |

Go talk to him in person. People are generally pretty cool, polite, and want to be collaborative if you approach them humbly and politely. I'd pretend you think he made an honest mistake as an initial approach. Maybe he did. Are people really afraid to approach others during a situation like this? Im not the most assertive or outgoing person but I don't see what's so scary about it. if the guy blows his stack laugh at him. He sounds like a big baby. Unless he has a criminal record for violent crimes I wouldn't worry. most people are all bluster. |
