They aren’t the same jets the US forces have. We sell downgraded Abrams tanks to foreign countries , too. Maybe Canada can interest them in some bagged milk. |

Hey Dude, Seriously...you should just stop obsessing about Trump. It's not healthy. Fixation like this is a sign of mental health distress. |

Oh, how much time have you spent working FMS cases and finding FMF money for ‘developing democracies’? How about export compliance and ITAR? Please go into detail with your insights. |

Kushner, or some other family member, is magically going to be invited to invest in whichever PIF scheme the Saudis want to come up with this week, in exchange for being allowed to purchase these. Which make outstanding first-strike weapons, incidentally, if they have all of the LO magic ours and the Izzy's do. Better hope one doesn't go walkabout to the Chinese... The longer his term goes on, the dirtier and more anti-MAGA he's getting. |

But they’re already in the hole for all the needed infrastructure and shit for the F-35 and their defense leaders already said they’d “full steam ahead” on it. |

We were selling them to the UAE but we would not allow the deal to go forward if they went with Chinese 5G networks. The UAE then declined the sale. The UAE also purchased 48 JL-10 training jets from China. I do see some concern with the Saudis. Though I think this is supposed to be countering the growing Chinese influence and military sales that seem to be picking up in the region. Though we have historically given them advanced things like F-15s, F-15Es, and now F-15SA (essentially EX) variants. The Saudis do spend the most GDP per capita than any other country on defense, and they like to upgrade frequently. I think they're looking to upgrade all F-15Es to the SA standard. So I can see it being good to prevent China from gaining more influence but we need to have strong stipulations. No Chinese anything military related. Still... I don't trust them. There is also Morocco and Chile that are looking to purchase. Morocco is overall an ally but I am not sure I trust them enough either. Chile is our biggest Latin America ally, but again, corruption can be a bit too high for my liking. It isn't quite like Brazil or Mexico but still not quite reliable enough. |

Meh, we've sold high-end gear to the Saudis forever. They got their first F-15s in 1981, only 4 years after Israel, and we sold them E-3s in 1983 (Israel never got those). Outside of aircraft, they were also one of the first operators of systems like Patriot and Abrams. It makes them feel like they're close allies, it gets our companies some of their oil money, and it doesn't really threaten anyone since they're too incompetent to actually use that gear properly. |
|
He offered the jeets the F-35 and it went nowhere. He signed a deal on his last day in office for the UAE to get them and it went nowhere. The same objections to the UAE acquiring them exist for the Saudis. Congress also gets a say in this and they just blocked the Turks from acquiring F110s. The QME is another roadblock. |

| I may be biased my uncle is on some sort of "wall of honor" in Saudi Arabia, for saving a prince's life while training them to fly F-5 's for Northrop-Grumman and killed in a training crash later. The kingdom is our ally (mostly) and 100x more likely to fly combat missions against Iran or terrorists than against or Israel. Take the cash, give the jets! |

Don’t care. 1. Aircraft sold through FMS are delivered with degraded systems-they aren’t as advanced as what’d delivered to DoD/DoW. 2. FMS keeps critical production lines open (even if only at a low rate), along with maintaining institutional knowledge that would be needed to surge on short notice in the lead up to, or during war should the conflict become protracted. No FMS? Production lines would shut down and important defense sectors such as aerospace would be at risk of collapsing at the end of or between any U.S. contract(s). 3. U.S. weapons sold through our FMS program allows the U.S. to exert influence over those nations who may otherwise work against U.S. interests in those regions. 4. FMS is a good way to advertise the superlative quality and capabilities of U.S. weapons designs and associated support, which helps to deter conflicts by mitigating against miscalculations by adversarial political or military leadership. With the F-35, there’s no question that the U.S. maintains a competitive, qualitative technological superiority over other nation’s export sales. |
