The Hakka is smooth, I'm not a serious speed cyclist but I ran pretty much the same splits on 27.5s and 700c/29 gravel tires. I put carbon 29" MTB wheels on the Hakka and ran it that way for a while before settling back on the 27.5s. I found the wider tire at lower pressure to be more comfortable bombing around town without sacrificing any speed. Dropper posts in gravel bikes are grossly underrated too

Beast deal to be had right now is Intense 951. They’re selling demo and Costco returned bikes with carbon frames, Fox 36 forks, trp brakes and sram nx drivetrain for $1800. I was looking at Santa Cruz Bronson Ibis Ripmo v3 Specialized stumpy Trek fuel ex gen6 In the end it was down to the ibis and Trek. My local Trek dealer gave me the bro hook up so I couldn’t pass it up. |

 Here's a 10 year old picture of my Poprod. I understand why people think old bikes shouldn't be rehabbed. But, you know, I'm not racing and don't have the time to race. This old steel bile will last forever. I think I'm going to put that 11 speed shram red copy on this thing and find some lighter rim brake carbon rims. I love to ride but because of persec don't ride the roads near my home except on the weekends. I would love to commute, but man that would be too tempting for some people.  Love all the bike pix! |

I understand why people think old bikes shouldn't be rehabbed. But, you know, I'm not racing and don't have the time to race. This old steel bile will last forever. I think I'm going to put that 11 speed shram red copy on this thing and find some lighter rim brake carbon rims. I love to ride but because of persec don't ride the roads near my home except on the weekends. I would love to commute, but man that would be too tempting for some people. Love all the bike pix! Who spends nearly $1000 on a beat to shit scratched up, 20 year old aluminum bike? Me. . It rides like brand new now. Is it as fast as my carbon fiber madone with electronic shifting and aero wheels? Of course not but i will tell to you a truth. I love it just as much. It has character and sentimental value. It will give me just as good of a work out and if I happen to hit a pot hole and throw it at the pavement at 25mph, I will care a lot less than my madone. |

This kinda thing also helps out the local bike shop if you had them do the work too. I usually do my own maintenance but I have thought about dropping my bike off at the LBS just to help support them. |
