halloween, and the skanky ho's that come with it in the college area.  I might have to set up a duck blind in the front yard to observe them in their "halloween costume" aka lack of clothing whatsoever.

Usually I like it because of my birthday.  But this year is the "Big Four-Oh" and everybody is giving me a hard time about it.

That's a big part of it right there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ducks, geese, almost deer season (can't bowhunt anymore ), and the weather. I hate heat and sunshine, and also leaves on trees. I like temps not higher than 50F, all leaves brown/dead on the ground, and the sky one shade of gray from horizon to horizon. Then I'm not stuck inside with the A/C and the fan; I can go out and lie on the porch swing, go hunting, etc.

I like October because it is the first time since March that I can walk around in the woods around here without worrying about getting ate ass-up with chiggers and ticks.

My Minnesota relatives thought that chiggers were imaginary animals that we told them about down here, like snipe.

Then they sat around in the grass for a while telling me I was full of it.  Needless to say, everybody got a free memento of the Old Dominion to take back to Minnetonka.

Because it starts with "O" I like the letter "O"

That, and it's the best month of the year.

It has me and Mrs B's birthday (ours is the same day, I'm 2 years older).

Autumn in the Pocono Mountains is glorious (shame everyone else knows that, it gets crowded).

The heat of summer is GONE (except for an occasional Indian Summer, which is fun for the three or four days it lasts around here).

School is fully up-to-speed, so the kids aren't running all over at night like in the summer.

And bagged candy is really cheap.

Ha, lots of October birthdays! Mine too... I have always loved October ; )

I love apple picking, college and NFL football, hockey (though no NHL now ), pie (pumpkin and sweet potato, what were YOU thinking? ), and the fact that it's the gate way to Christmas.

As much as I love warm days, there is something just amazing about a Fall sunset-- trees changing color, the cool breeze making that unmistakable rustling sound through the leaves, sky still blue and bright while the golden sun sets to the horizon... I love the Fall. Definitely my favorite time of year.
