I had a guy who would meet me in the hallway every day during seventh grade and pick on me, put me in a headlock, etc. I would try to get away but he was pretty big. One day I was in a really bad mood and when he walked up to me I kneed him in the stomach, pushed him back hard, and told him to leave me alone. He never did any of that again. So I learned a valuable lesson, which was worth the price I paid to learn it. |

I can't find the link at the moment but that was/is on the COMMUNIST agenda. Take over the schools and teach socialism and remove American pride from education to GROW Communists. |

Could you provide a source for
the rules you have posted....Perhaps a link to the school's website. Thanks. |

Unbelieveable! That's what you get for living so close to Kalistan and the Kaliban government. The closest thing I get to this, was my son's 8th grade "Bill of Rights" book that the teacher made up. It was her interpetation of the Bill of Rights. The 2nd Amendment was her real downfall. She claimed that we didn't need it anymore, cause we didn't need to hunt for food and we had police to protect us. I called her on it and told her off. You should have seen the look on her face when I verbly bitch slapped her in front of my family and four other teachers. She had nothing to say, except, "Well...this is the first time anyone has had a problem with it and brought it to my attention". I just said, "I READ what my son is learning...unlike other parents!". Next I said, "AND you will change this to relect what the intent of the 2nd is and I WILL be looking at it when my daughter comes through. If it's not changed to have at least the view I just stayed along with yours, I will be taking this up with the school board!" Gave the teacher a big And my son still got all A's! |

Good for you!!!! |

Why dont some of you run to get on the school board and actually have some input as to what goes on instead of being reactive to it? My wife is looking into doing it.

Scott, my parents went to lots of parent/principal conferences during my formative years. After a while we could handle things with a phone call. They knew my parents would fight whatever they tried to pull, so it was easiest for them to roll over.

Grade school, this was definately me. When I walked into the school I could hear the murmrs, OH SHIT, here he comes again. Middleschool, I have been relying more on my son to handle the issues with dad standing watching his six and giving advice. Here, they have tended to back off the social issues and concentrating more on scholastic in these grades. Still alot of the same socialistic issues are there, just now my son knows how to identify them and has developed his own sense of right and wrong. I don't know how good this is for being a conservative neither far left nor ultra-religious, he's a tad of a square peg. He says he's invisible and that's the way he likes it. This was an issue last year as he tried to fit in but less of one this year as he has come to realize that this is temporary and he has a life outside the school system. IMHO, this is very important. As a parent we must stress school is a temporary thing and if you come out of it with two or three real life long friends, you're lucky. Tj |

TomJefferson, that a good way to handle it, I came out of the K12 system with no friends, but I made it out without fucking myself up at all, so its all good. Wheres BillytheKid lately, anyway?

Even if you get on the school board, which I have served on,it doesn't mean anything is going to change. You would not believe the liberal garbage that is churned. I would disagree and trust me things would pass anyways. Plus the fact that most parents do not care to get involved. My husband and I were very involved with our son's education from kindergarten through 12th grade. Thankfully he graduated and I no longer have to deal with the school systems. Yes it does burn you out. My husband and I always provided a unified front and alot of teachers did not like us, but we always put our sons best interests first. He's had teachers that felt communism was great and teaching it as such and not showing the down side. We made sure that she was showing the other side and not glorifying it. Our son was great at questioning her and other teachers, but then you get the phone calls or letters home, about them questioning authority.
On the other side where in WA is that school. I grew up in Seattle/Tacoma and grduated from Mercer Island High and thankfully the schools were not like that. I even went to school in Lacey and Yelm. My cousin was a teacher for Yelm for a long time, she retired from there awhile back and I don't remember her saying anything about the schools being that bad. Just that the kids were getting worse. |

MrsWildWeasel, I went to Mill Pond in Yelm, and graduated from Rainier High School in 2003. Its a small world.

LOL, He's doing fine just lost his inet privalages for a while for not doing homework. It's his first year for study hall. Typical boy! Computer listed test scores are a scourge on early teens. Did alot of camping, boating, and shooting this summer but a bit bummed as Gunstock this year is a week after his fall break so can't attend unless I fly him down. BTK is gettng ready for school and said to say "Hi". Tj |

Which one pisses me off most?!
You've got to be kidding. The whole list pisses me off. What the hell is wrong with people? Seperation between girls and boys at that age is natural. It's what makes it fun to rediscover each other after puberty. Most of the others sound to me like the school board is deathly afraid that a student might get upset. Though I must admit that I'm not suprised that students aren't learning about AMERICAN history anymore. Like your daughter said, "Everyone that isn't white is special." This is the world that the politically correct want. Hell I wouldn't be suprised if I heard a class marching around chanting "Down with Whitey!" in a few years. |

Anyone that sends their kids to a public school today is an idiot.

These are the reasons my daughter goes to a private Catholic School.

Combat Jack I graduated high school in 1978. Yelm and North Thurston I was there in early 70's. When I went to Yelm I actually had my cousin as a teacher. That was a real joy. She was hardest on me than any other kid in the class. My uncle worked there too. I could NOT get away with anything. I went back home last year when my Dad passed away. My brother was living in Yelm at the time I could not believe how much it had grown. I really would not have recognized it. Actually the times I have been back I really feel out of place now on the west coast. Here I live in a really small town out in the country and I have always liked that. My cousins had one of the biggest cattle ranches in Yelm also,at this point I don't know how much of that they are doing now. I used to go afterschool and help out. I loved it. When I lived there we lived on Lawrence Lake.

We solved this problem. We moved. Our old city was very multicultural and very diverse. Not a problem in and of itself if all people were treated equally. Some however were always treated more equally than others. After a few altercations, and on several occaisions my kids were told by other students " I'm (pick your minority) so I can do whatever I want and not get in trouble." I thought that this sounded strange so I checked with other parents, including those of that minority. I found out that the statement was accurate. We now no longer have this problem. The schools here are excellent and have no PC undertones permeating the school day. The kids have less homework as more time can be directed to school work during the school day. The teachers can actually teach since they don't have to spend their time settling disputes and dealing in long winded appeasement. I truly hated moving, I grew up there, but the difference in my kids is proof of the correctness of the move. I truly wish that these schools in the inner suburbs truly understood that by their disparate treatment of students they were actually promoting racism, but they don't. The minutae of the moment clouds the big picture. To any minorities that may read this and misinterpret my words all I can say is this. No one is holding you down but yourself. The majority does not care what you look like or where or into what circumstances you were born. This is America, you have the same opportunity to succeed or fail as everyone else. Your kids have access to incredible resources for self improvement and education. Take advantage of them to the fullest. Do not however expect to be cow towed to, molly coddled, or treated as " special ". You have now achieved well deserved equality, but the only way you will keep it is to truly act as equals. You are not more equal.

PRIVATE SCHOOL Get your kid out of the Dewey Camp....... Find a way. I work three jobs to keep my kids in a private school. |
|
I can't even believe that!!! So your tax dollars are going where then? The school board probably makes a 5 million dollar donation to the DNC and passes the short coming to all the kids. Nice... |

Ah yes. Reminds me of my days at school. My Mom would pack leftovers for lunch. Cindy, billy and Johny eat PB&J but little HK940 has tacos. Imagine a lunch bag with 4 taco shells, lettuce, tomato, cheese, hot sauce and of course piping hot taco meat in it’s own mini thermos. BWAHAHAHAHAH!!! Or if she was running behind in the mornings she would bring McDonalds. |

This offends me, I need a card No one told me I was special Or you can just give me a new AR After reading this post I need to vomit. I knew schools were f**k up but I didnt know it was this bad... |

I suspect we'll be seeing some of this from the public school teachers who are on our side (and there are some)... Please note the friendly shade of green... |

In the local high school, you are not allowed to use the word "Gay" The principle of the high school is named Mr. Gay. ktm500 |

Bingo! My wife works for the private school that our daughter attends, so we get a discount, plus my job pays well enough that I don't have to work another, though I do have a bitch of a commute, which will get worse next summer! But, she's worth it! ETA: Fumble-fingered typing corrected |

Tell her that a woman from PA invented Kevlar. Stephanie Kwolek. I wonder why they don't teach that to girls? Maybe its because she went to one of those colleges for women in PA that aren't supposed to be any good. |

I think that if my kid had to deal with a situation like that, that I'd be playing the bull in the china shop. I'd be a regular visitor to ALL of my kid's classes, and I would be a "guest teacher", whether the teachers and administrators like it or not. Oh, my conduct would be legal, for sure, but it'd be quite pointed, too.
My kids will receive a fair and BALANCED education. If the teachers want to teach about the bogus non-holiday known as kwanzaa, or the foreign (and hence irrelevant) holiday of cinco de mayo, then they're going to learn about the truth of Christmas...and taking impartiality to the extreme, I'll also teach them about Boxing Day, which is a uniquely British holiday. (Christmas for the servants, staff, and hired help, essentially. Dec. 26, if I remember right.) And if the colored kids are special, damned straight the white ones are, too, and I'll never let anyone forget it! I don't object to a broad based education that's sensitive to other cultures, races, and beliefs....but I sure as hell draw the line where it's NOT respectful of AMERICAN WHITE culture and beliefs! THAT WILL BE TAUGHT, DAMMIT!!! CJ |

number 7, teach all the kids to fink on each other and give them extra points when they do.

I know you all have your War Paint on about these rules, but let's be honest. those rules are there to TRY and eliminate some of the most common disciplinary problems that teachers have to face. If they are not dealing with discipline/social problems then they can actually TEACH reading, writing, a 'rithmatic...
I used to teach at a junio high. We were not trying to turn your children in to socialist. We just wanted to keep them settled down long enough to teach them math and science. You know, it would help as well to understand that a kid fighting with another child over a game of 'kick the fat kid' is going to take time and resources that YOU, Mr./Mrs. Taxpayer are providing. Loosen your tinfoil and look at WHY the teacher is making the rules. They are trying to do their job, without the need to spend half their day solving petty fights, arguments and disagreements. TRG PS. Shiny side out on the tinfoil, fellas... |

Oops, I forgot that was in a 'registration required' forum. Here's the post:
OK, my 10 year old brings home a folder filled with "learn about voting" stuff that they will be tested on. Here is an excerpt from the booklet... quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Democrats are known as the liberal, or generous party. This group is known for standing up for the poor. It has drawn much support from several groups, such as farmers, factory workers, immigrants and minorities. The Republican Party began in 1843. It calls itself the Grand Old Party, or GOP. Abraham Lincoln was the first president elected from this party. The party, which uses the elephant as its mascot, is known as the conservative party. Republicans have a reputation of taking care of the concerns of the more powerful people in America, such as owners of large businesses and corporations, and wealthy people. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nice and unbiased, isn't it? I have already given my son (at his request) a Bush/Cheney 04 bumper sticker that he has put in the plastic liner of his binder. I've told him that he doesn't have to remove it if he doesn't want to, even if they ask him, and if he keeps it in there, we'll back him up. One of the teachers also asked them to write down the name of someone they would like to meet. He wrote down "George W. Bush," and the teacher said "Why would you want to meet him?" Copy of the workbook pages: Liberal bias |

Man that is a bunch of bullshit and I thought my son's school was bad. Man I tell you I always dread it when I have to go pick him up for an appointment because I am always being told about something he did. I ask what the other kid has done to him and the teacher or the ass. Princaple tells me this or that and then they say my son still shouldn't have done nothing back, of course I tell them that is bullshit and walk out.
