No wonder kids today are so built up, and full of hate!    First off they don't let kids be kids anymore.  Getting picked on only makes you stronger, and finding a way to get revenge for being picked on only makes you smarter.

Only to a point.

Perhapse im missing your point, but school bullys touch a nerve with me.
I was the scrawny timmid kid everybody picked on in grammer school.

That shit has the opposite effect on me.

I had a guy who would meet me in the hallway every day during seventh grade and pick on me, put me in a headlock, etc.  I would try to get away but he was pretty big.  One day I was in a really bad mood and when he walked up to me I kneed him in the stomach, pushed him back hard, and told him to leave me alone.  He never did any of that again.

So I learned a valuable lesson, which was worth the price I paid to learn it.

Blackgun_Fan, even though everything you listed turns my stomach ... what bothers me the most out of what you said is this;

5. It seems as if about 80% of their history lessons are about slavery, immigrants, and other cultures celebrations and traditions. My daughter tells me that people of color (any color other than white) are "special." I have to remind her that SHE is special too - not just people of other races.
She can tell you all about "Kwanza"(sp?), and "Cinco de Mayo" (sp?) - but does not know about the Boston Tea Party, any real details about the 4th of July, Veterans Day, even the reason for Christmas is brushed over. WTF? (I have had to explain all of these American holidays to her)

I have a HUGE problem with that.  If that's the direction history classes are heading, soon kids won't even have a reason to be proud to be American.  They'll be self-pitying drones under some globalized government.

I can't find the link at the moment but that was/is on the COMMUNIST agenda.  Take over the schools and teach socialism and remove American pride from education to GROW Communists.

Unbelieveable!

That's what you get for living so close to Kalistan and the Kaliban government.

The closest thing I get to this, was my son's 8th grade "Bill of Rights" book that the teacher made up. It was her interpetation of the Bill of Rights. The 2nd Amendment was her real downfall. She claimed that we didn't need it anymore, cause we didn't need to hunt for food and we had police to protect us. I called her on it and told her off. You should have seen the look on her face when I verbly bitch slapped her in front of my family and four other teachers. She had nothing to say, except, "Well...this is the first time anyone has had a problem with it and brought it to my attention". I just said, "I READ what my son is learning...unlike other parents!". Next I said, "AND you will change this to relect what the intent of the 2nd is and I WILL be looking at it when my daughter comes through. If it's not changed to have at least the view I just stayed along with yours, I will be taking this up with the school board!"

Gave the teacher a big

And my son still got all A's!

No offense...but I get kind of nervous giving out stuff like this publicly. I will say it is in Washington State though. You also brought up an important fact....many of these "rules" are verbal rules and policies explained to the children at school. They just assume it is "the way it is, and do not question the rules." Fortunately my daughter questions them! Kids don't complain, parents don't find out.

Numbers 6,8,9,10 are in the handbook. The rest are not. Last week I called the Principal about "rule #1. I mentioned that is not in the rule hand book and she said that "...there are many policies and procedures for the learning process, and if they were to all be published it would take a novel."

When I cornered her on the issue at hand, I don't think my little girl should have to play with people she does not like, she went into some blabbing about "social skills" and a "positive playground attitude" - children must learn not to discriminate against others in any form....bla bla bla....

Lets just say we have a Parent / Principal meeting next week. I am going to wear this t-shirt when I meet her...

Scott, my parents went to lots of parent/principal conferences during my formative years. After a while we could handle things with a phone call. They knew my parents would fight whatever they tried to pull, so it was easiest for them to roll over.

Even if you get on the school board, which I have served on,it doesn't mean anything is going to change. You would not believe the liberal garbage that is churned. I would disagree and trust me things would pass anyways. Plus the fact that most parents do not care to get involved. My husband and I were very involved with our son's education from kindergarten through 12th grade. Thankfully he graduated and I no longer have to deal with the school systems. Yes it does burn you out. My husband and I always provided a unified front and alot of teachers did not like us, but we always put our sons best interests first. He's had teachers that felt communism was great and teaching it as such and not showing the down side. We made sure that she was showing the other side and not glorifying it. Our son was great at questioning her and other teachers, but then you get the phone calls or letters home, about them questioning authority.
On the other side where in WA is that school. I grew up in Seattle/Tacoma and grduated from Mercer Island High and thankfully the schools were not like that. I even went to school in Lacey and Yelm. My cousin was a teacher for Yelm for a long time, she retired from there awhile back and I don't remember her saying anything about the schools being that bad. Just that the kids were getting worse.

Which one pisses me off most?!
You've got to be kidding.
The whole list pisses me off. What the hell is wrong with people?
Seperation between girls and boys at that age is natural. It's what makes it fun to rediscover each other after puberty.
Most of the others sound to me like the school board is deathly afraid that a student might get upset.
Though I must admit that I'm not suprised that students aren't learning about AMERICAN history anymore. Like your daughter said, "Everyone that isn't white is special." This is the world that the politically correct want. Hell I wouldn't be suprised if I heard a class marching around chanting "Down with Whitey!" in a few years.

Combat Jack I graduated high school in 1978. Yelm and North Thurston I was there in early 70's. When I went to Yelm I actually had my cousin as a teacher. That was a real joy. She was hardest on me than any other kid in the class. My uncle worked there too. I could NOT get away with anything. I went back home last year when my Dad passed away. My brother was living in Yelm at the time I could not believe how much it had grown. I really would not have recognized it. Actually the times I have been back I really feel out of place now on the west coast. Here I live in a really small town out in the country and I have always liked that. My cousins had one of the biggest cattle ranches in Yelm also,at this point I don't know how much of that they are doing now. I used to go afterschool and help out. I loved it. When I lived there we lived on Lawrence Lake.

I can't even believe that!!!  So your tax dollars are going where then?  The school board probably makes a 5 million dollar donation to the DNC and passes the short coming to all the kids.   Nice...

Ah yes.  Reminds me of my days at school.

My Mom would pack leftovers for lunch.  Cindy, billy and Johny eat PB&J but little HK940 has tacos.  Imagine a lunch bag with 4 taco shells, lettuce, tomato, cheese, hot sauce and of course piping hot taco meat in it’s own mini thermos.

1. You must play with everyone; no one can be excluded from your group, or game you are playing. If a kid you don't like walks up and says, "I want to play", you must let him/her play or be "written up" (disciplinary action).

2. The color RED may not be used to correct other student’s papers in class. Only blue, purple or green is allowed. (Red is considered to "critcal" or "harsh") I have a feeling political motivation may be behind this one.

3. If any kid laughs at another for ANY reason (tripping, goofing up, spilling something...etc.) other than basically telling a joke - the whole CLASS is punished by missing recess time.

4. Lunch Seating - there must be an approximate 50/50 boy-girl mix at lunch tables. Grouping is not allowed. Lunchroom supervisors routinely "redistribute" students to other tables.

7. Students get "playground points" (time credits to save up and use for extended recess time) for reporting kids breaking any of these rules.

8. If a student feels unhappy about a test score, or has had their feelings hurt in some way - they have immediate access to a "counselor". In fact, meeting with a counselor once a week is mandatory - even if the child does not have anything to talk about.

9. Parents are encouraged to pack a "standardized" lunch for their kids to limit what I can only explain as "lunch envy." The reason for this is to be sensitive to children that may not have as many "goodies" as others.

OK, my 10 year old brings home a folder filled with "learn about voting" stuff that they will be tested on. Here is an excerpt from the booklet...

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Democrats are known as the liberal, or generous party. This group is known for standing up for the poor. It has drawn much support from several groups, such as farmers, factory workers, immigrants and minorities.

The Republican Party began in 1843. It calls itself the Grand Old Party, or GOP. Abraham Lincoln was the first president elected from this party. The party, which uses the elephant as its mascot, is known as the conservative party. Republicans have a reputation of taking care of the concerns of the more powerful people in America, such as owners of large businesses and corporations, and wealthy people.

Nice and unbiased, isn't it? I have already given my son (at his request) a Bush/Cheney 04 bumper sticker that he has put in the plastic liner of his binder. I've told him that he doesn't have to remove it if he doesn't want to, even if they ask him, and if he keeps it in there, we'll back him up.

One of the teachers also asked them to write down the name of someone they would like to meet. He wrote down "George W. Bush," and the teacher said "Why would you want to meet him?"

I ask what the other kid has done to him and the teacher or the ass. Princaple tells me this or that and then they say my son still shouldn't have done nothing back, of course I tell them that is bullshit and walk out.
