I've had good luck so far. My former step-father was a fan of the Lorcin series, which eventually saved both our lives. When I was twelve he got drunk and decided he was going to kill me with his Lorcin .380. He racked the slide, pointed it at my face and pulled the trigger. Evidently a magazine problem prevented it from feeding. When I was fourteen he got drunk and beat up my mother. I decided I was going to shoot him with his Lorcin 9mm(he had been threatening my mother with it, and lost it in the struggle). I picked it up off the floor and attempted to chamber a round. When I released the slide the round became lodged between the feed ramp and the slide. In my state I was unable to clear it. It did make a decent club however, which I used to pistol-whip him until the police arrived. He survived, but had some pretty serious nerve damage in his face and a broken jaw.

Lorcins save lives.

Wow.  That's some serious sharing you're doing there.

HAHAHA.....Not one but two Jennings 22s, use to carry them both at the same time [ had a 50/50 chance one would fire] traded and got a S&W 36.

And a early Bushmaster rifle [Gwinn] jammed every 3rd round [double feed] I finally ripped the bolt handle through the upper reciever. Still have it in pieces in the spare parts box.

It has come up before under different circumstances. The most recent event was about 9 years ago. I have had a good bit of time to think about it since it happened, and I don't take it very seriously any more. It used to really bother me. I feel that these stories do make a good point about low quality weapons.

Well when I was 16 I had a job making $2.00 an hour. I worked like crazy till I had enough money for a $250.00 Llama and a box of .45 acp.I was so proud that I had a ".45 automatic" and couldn't wait to go shoot it. When I did , the rear sight fell off after one magazine and it would jam every second (or so) round. Worked on it for months finally gave in and let my Dad take it and sell it for $50.00 .  Biggest POS ever!

Hesse AK-74. The ejector eroded and standard bakelites wouldn't fit unless they were trimmed. Also the headspace would change and the bolt wouldn't close on some rounds. I found it out the hardway when a fireworks show started about 3 inches from my face, and it wasn't the Fourth of July. I traded it for a Century R1A1 at the very next gunshow to an unsuspecting dealer. Second biggest pos is an SW-52 by everybody's good friend Todd. And the sad thing about it is that he wants even more money to "upgrade" them.

I had a Raven in my safe for over 25 years.  Took it out and put a box of ammo through it every couple of years and it always performed 100% and was fairly accurate for that small of a gun.

I got rid of it during a safe clean-out to make room for other weapons.

Its embarassing to even admit it that I owned it.  At least I didn't pay for it.  A gun dealer friend gave it to me (some friend).

Walther P22

Bought it brand new when the first came out. I was soo excited. I cleaned and lubed it before I took it to the range. I tried 4 different types of ammo and could not get through 1  10rd mag without 1-3 failures to feed or fire. Sold it at the next gun show, while people were still lining up for them.   Now I hear about the slides wearing out after extensive use. I never had that problem with a Ruger MKI/II or 10/22.

Now there's a Walther G22.

It's FUGLY!   It looks like a HiPoint on crack.

We bought 3 of them, and after about 300 rounds through each of them, they would never fire again.  Also, the front sites kept falling off and would never  fully tighten with the set screws.  Good thing Walmart took them back the next day, for store credit.  We then returned the credited itemd and got our cash back.

to add - looks like Viper gets a -4 so far...

Tec-22 Scorpion!

A true jam-o-matic! Bought it for $100 from a guy who had just got married and his new wife wouldn't let him keep any of his guns because "they were trying to have kids" and the c_nt didn't want guns in the house with children.

I tried to shoot it a few times and then sold it on AuctionArms for $350 because it was an evil pre-ban with threaded barrel, heat shroud, etc and I still kept the 10/22 30 rd mag that had come with it when I bought it!

Hesse AR15...even though it was brand new, the chamber was so out of spec that a gunsmith declared the chamber irreperable.  I would have had to put a new barrel on a new gun.  When I called ole Mr. Hesse, he was a dick and wouldn't help me.  Fuck him and his company.  I should have listened to the advice from this board, but alas, I had to see for myself.  I now own a Colt.

S&W 686.  If I did not clean the cylinder after every time I shot a cylinder full the brass would stick so bad in the cambers that I had to use a cleaning rod to remove them.   This only happened with 357's, 38's worked fine.

I fixed it all up with some cool accessories then went to sight the scope in.

It was MOE (Minute Of Elephant) at 100 yds.

I tried several different handloads with the same results.

The mags never worked worth a shit either.  It was an act of congress to get the mags to lock in.

I sold it a week later for what I had in it plus $40.

Gets dirty quick, but asa long as you know what to expect.
That being said, my regular CCW is a Glock 26. The Jennings is purely back up in my wifes truck because she dosen't always remember to grad her Sig. The Sig is another story....

Cost wise?  Either my Colt Match  Target HBAR or the first handgun I ever bought, a Colt special edition "Combat Government" 1911.  The match target had the plastic buffer in it and cracked disabling the weapon after the NRA patrol rifle instructors course.  At least mine didn't have the plastic trap door like some of the other guys did  (The department chose the weapon, not me).  The 1911 out of the box would shoot washtub sized groups at 25 yards off a rest.  A trip to Jim Garthwaite made it the best shooting handgun I own.

I've had muzzle loaders as a kid that were pretty big pieces of crap, but I got what I paid for with them.  The two Colts?  I'd expect more out of them.  I was highly disappointed.

Carbon 15 wouldn't shoot 3 rounds without jamming and the NAA 32 was brand new and you had to pull the trigger 3-4 times EACH ROUND to get it to fire! Took it back the next day and bought a Beretta Tomcat.

Biggest POS - Charter Arms Bulldog .44 special. Coud not hit paper at 15 yards, and unfired ammunition in the gun would jam it up when bullets would come unseated from the brass and stop the cylinder from turning. The only revolver in my 40+ years to " jam"!!!

#2 POS - Ruger Mini-14 ranch rifle - Let's not start this discussion again, as adults we all know it's Ruger's biggest  faux paux to date.

beernut:
I also have Stoeger luger that my dad purchased over 30 years ago. For it to be reliable, keep the toggle action clean ( I use aeresol gun scrubber then lube with a little break free) and shoot CCI mini mags. It's pretty much the only .22 ammo I use just due to the fact it is so much clener than most others.  With the CCI it is 100% for 400- 500 rounds until it gets dirt again. Fun gun to shoot.
