We've still got an hour before dark here, but being so far north we should get a good show.

Got most of the Grand kids over this evening and they are going nuts taking pictures from the front porch.
I reminded them to save the best ones for posterity, God knows when they will ever see this light show again.
Hell, I'm 58 and this is the 1st time I've been able to see this myself.

As the poster said a few minutes ago, SCREW the eclipse, this is MUCH better.

We had a nice display for 10-20 minutes shortly after 10pm here in western SC.  Green then pink, then both.  Faint streaks all the way to the zenith.  Very cool.

Everyone comparing to the eclipse… if you weren’t on the path of totality, eclipses are pretty underwhelming.

This is awesome though

I think a lot of people are seeing their phone’s night vision photo capability more than they’re seeing the northern lights.

Looking *due south* from my house:

I don’t think that’s the northern lights.

Not great, but it's there, but as always the camera doesn't do it justice.

45 minutes west of St Louis. Had to get out of the city lights. There was about 10 minutes where you could see purple with dark streaks with the naked eye. Not nearly as vivid as the phone camera picks up. Still pretty cool though.

I just got back from driving 30 minutes north to get out of city light and then 30 minutes back home.  I didn't see crap.  That weak picture I posted earlier in the thread was all I got.  It was a little cloudy where I ended up.  Cleared out when I got home, so I walked around outside and still saw nothing.  Kind of pissed to be honest with all these other pictures I'm seeing.

Cameras seem to gather light better than the human eye. Yeah, I got some great pictures, it doesn't look nearly as cool with the mk1 eyeball.

I didn't think to take a pic pointing south. I was thinking I would go back out tomorrow night as my same time and take another pic to compare.

whatever I was looking at in MS just looked like faint pale clouds.

I took some really cool photos from work about 9:30pm, got home around midnight and took the wife and kid out to catch a glimpse. It was not as good as earlier, but still visible to camera, wife was unimpressed lol. Oh well. I enjoyed it.
