Instead, Groot got 49 of 50 votes with Allen getting the other.

Sorry @David_ESM you got robbed.

Yeah that’s a factor.

I’m just thinking they’re in a better position to put up MVP stats than the odds show.

To win MVP, guys like Cousins wouldn’t have to just put up MVP stats.  They wouldn’t just have to put together the best season any QB has that season.  They would also have to be INCONTROVERTIBLY better than all the media favorite QBs.

Even if they are significantly better than the media favorite QBs, that still wouldn’t be enough as proven last season with Groot getting 49/50 votes and Purdy and Dak getting none.

I have no idea what the QB plan/situation is in TN.

They're drafting at #7, so they could feasibly take one, but it would be another 2-3 tier draft prospect.

That's.... really cheap.

Beyond that I'd be extraordinarily suprised if they took a QB. Levis from everything I've seen seems to be the guy for now.

$23MPY is good enough for 9th highest among all WRs.

Behind:
Tyreek Hill
Davante Adams
Cooper Kupp
AJ Brown
Stefon Diggs
DK Metcalf
Deebo Samuel
Michael Pittman Jr (just signed for $23.33MPY)

$50M guaranteed, if fully guaranteed at signing, would be 2nd most ever behind Tyreek. If it is a practical guarantee, it would be 10th highest in the NFL.

Is Calvin Ridley a top 10 in the NFL wide receiver? He is older than every receiver on the list above except Davante Adams.

Mike Evans just signed a 2 year at $20.5MPY. I would 100% rather have Mike Evans then Ridley.

Edit: For reference, in 2023, Ridley ranked thusly:
Receptions: T29th
Total Yards: 25th
YPG: 31st
Yards per/target: T66th
YAC per/reception: T127th
Receiving TDs: T8th (with 10 other receivers)
Catch %: 175th (among receivers w/25+ targets)
Success %: 95th (among receivers w/25+ targets)
Total 1st Downs: 22nd
Broken Tackles: T161st
PR when targeted: 122nd (among receivers w/25+ targets)

Going back to the comparison with Mike Evans. They both were targeted 136 times last year. Evans surpassed Ridley in every single category.

The price doesn't make that much sense, and the destination is even weirder.

Why do you spend that kind of money on a 29 year old WR if your team is in a rebuilding state.

I'm not sure it does.

After the big cap jump, Aiyuk should probably be targeting at least the Kupp and Adams contracts from two years ago if not Tyreek.

I would love having him in the locker room.

Edit: Seahawks had him for $7M last season (after he hit incentives).

Double Edit: Rapoport says 1 year, $6M guaranteed, $8.5M max after incentives. Good signing. I like it.

I get it if you want to give Levis a reliable target, but is he really the guy? He would be a great WR2 but a lower end WR1.

There are two proposals for pushing back the trade deadline:
  • Steelers: Tuesday after Week 9
  • Browns, Lions, Jets, Eagles, Commanders: Tuesday after Week 10
The Eagles have once again proposed replacing the onside kick with a 4th and 20 attempt.

The Eagles have once again proposed all game clocks displaying tenths of a second within the final 60 seconds of each half.

The Colts have proposed allowing coaches to challenge ANY PENALTY called on the field within the final 2 minutes.

If they approve that fucked up kickoff where they are now kicking from the opponent 40 with the 1-20 yard line landing zone, where they said you could only do onside kicks in the 4th quarter when losing... Then they might as well change it to something that at least has a better chance of being completed. I don't know if 4th and 20 is it, but they are already fucking killing it, might as well do something else with it.

With all the BS PI calls and non PI calls I see, I don’t like the 4th and 20 suggestion. I want to give the refs LESS power to botch the ending of games.  Not MORE.

Amen.

That's why I support challenges within the final 2 minutes.

WTF is Brian Callahan even doing to Tennessee? He was supposed to trade for Tee Higgins...and it might have been cheaper than Calvin Ridley.

I could see the Falcons, Commanders, Chargers, and Titans all making the playoffs this year.

That Ridley deal is not computing.

Unless theyre trying to get Levis a WR, but like stated, Ridley is 29 and theres plenty of WRs in the draft to get him WRs and still keep their wallets closed for now
