Tempurpedic Have you guys ever seen these matresses? They're made of some sort of space age foam. VERY comfortable. I almost fell asleep on one while browsing a matress store one day. The only hang up? Check out the price sometime. Queen pillowtop was quoted at $2800. Their special pillows are $100 each. Nice pillows, but I don't know if they're $100 pillows. Just something that ran through my sleep-deprived mind. |
How long have you had yours? I've joked about wanting one of these but one concern is the 'foam' compressing over time and losing its spring value. |
Going on 3 years now, no compression. Our kids have them in their rooms and have been put through the typical kid routine of lots of jumping on the bed, and no loss of comfort. Guests all say it is the best nights sleep they have gotten, even in comparison to their own beds. I can not recommend it highly enough. |
| check out abeds for the same quality of bed at a much more reasonable price. Three years ago I purchased an air bed with the memory foam which is the equal of Tempurpedic and I have not had any problems with it. |

I was given one of their pillows for Christmas this year - the ergonomic wave-shaped version. It's really comfortable, but feels a little wierd until you get used to it. It compresses until it's molded around your head, and at that point it feels kind of hard, but it supports your head perfectly - I sleep very well on it. I'm seriously considering ordering the mattress when I get home from the sandbox. Everyone I know that has one of these says it's amazing and worth every penny, but you have to get past the high initial cost. If you can shell out that much, I think you'll feel that it was worth it after the fact - you just have to overcome that obstacle first... Dave |
Nope, not really. In the winter timeitis toasty warm, and in the summer, it is cool. You arenot right on the mattress itself, you have a cover that goes over the mattress, then your sheets. Get Cotton sheets and you are good to go. |

I had one and used it for about a year, king size. I couldn't wait to get rid of it. I just never could get used to it and was definately a lot firmer than I like. I sold the mattress to a good friend of mine that has minor back issues and his wife was also pregnant at the time. They absoutely adore the mattress still to this day, and it has actually helped do away with the pains my friend used to get in his back. They've now had the mattress for a little over a year and they still say that the matress would is worth it's weight in gold.....for them. |

For those on a budget, there are some foam toppers (2-4" thick) that lay on top of the matress and are somewhat like the Tempurpedic & abed's - don't get the waffle-cut foam, get the memory foam and expect to pay $100-200 depending on size. For mattresses in general, get an anti-allergen/dust cover for the mattresses. Tempur makes a good pillow and leg rest thing, no point in skimping there. I am outta this thread now, this place is getting too damned domestic. |
We told out local furniture guy (who does a lot of work for us in our rental units) to order the number we needed, we got about 22% off. |
If you're near Bristol, there's a place there that has pretty darn good prices on them. |
