As the morning goes on the list of "confirmed safe" is thankfully getting longer.  However, it's beginning to take up a lot of space and when you post your message, that accomplishes the same thing.  Therefore I think that maintaining only the list covering the folks that were likely to have been in the path is okay.  Any objections?  I'll give it another 10 or 15 minutes and re-edit that way unless y'all have a better idea or see something wrong with mine.

<oops>  Didn't mean to step on your post  3-7INFANTRY.  Glad to hear about Chris too.  Is that his handle?

We've had more rain this AM than we did all of yesterday.

My mother in law lives in the Deltona,Fl. area. But she has been out of town for more than a week. And as a result did nothing to prepare her house for the storm.

She called my wife this morning and was kinda freaking when she heard the storm basically went right through that area.

Do any of y'all live close to that area? If so. How did it fair?

The definition of irony would be to survive a mandatory evac and have my home destroyed by a level 4 thunderstorm today. We got way worse weather coming in right now than we had last night.

Glad you're okay.  I just moved from B'ton 4 months ago and still have many friends their.  How did Manatee fair?

Ah, electricity!

My neighborhood is alive with the sound of at least 10 chainsaws.

I’d say Merritt Island got of pretty easy compared to what I can now see on tv.

Yesterday we had one feeder come through about 4 AM with a little rain and wind. Other than that it was a very peaceful day. I have not heard of any damage locally. What little rain we did get, especially out east, will exacerbate the flood watches we've had this month.

The anticipation was stressful until Charley made that first eastward move. After that it was prayer time for the folk down south. With all the early attention focused on Tampa Bay I'm sure that many people down south and in the interior were caught off guard.

A BTT update - The list is getting shorter and thanks again for posting to let us know you're okay. I'm receiving some IMs too now.  Please also post info if anyone knows of some corrections that need to be made to the "Waiting for an update" list.  The original list was created by reviewing recent hurricane threads with locations so there could have been a misinterpretation on my part and I appreciate the help.

WOW!  We are getting pounded with rain today.  As you know Charley was predicted to hit us head on, well it didn't.   It barely rained at all yesterday, but today its pretty intense.  A Tornado just touched down less than a mile from my house!   Funnel clouds and tornados are everywhere, as reported on the news.

Be carefull out there, its not over yet!

Indian River County made it through Charlie. Had the transformer on the pole behind us short out 06:15 this morning, hell of a way to wake up. We have had far worse weather today than we had yesterday/last night.

In my subdivision on the Indian River Lagoon, Merritt Island, there are 25 homes.

Only four of us have power.

We hardly got hit at all. A few 50 mph gusts and almost no rain.

I suspect that there are parts of interior central Florida we’re not hearing from, and that they have it a lot worse than us.

I have two gensets out back in my hobby shack/workshop. A 10 Kw diesel Kohler on skids and a 6 Kw gas Honda.

Since I have electrons flowing thru the grid I’ve offered them to any of my neighbors. No one took me up.

I still feel guilty though when I see all the dark houses around me.

I talked to some relatives in Orlando and they say most of the city has lost power and the electric company is saying it might take 4-5 days.

Yep.  Professional duty, power problems, and personal priorities will delay check-in for sure.

Oh, & glad you didn't need to "man the life-rafts" Hawkeye.  Your front yard was bad before it even began down here.

Condolences Ungwaha but welcome back. DougR, LDHunter, and QP031 have also been able to reconnect.  Just waiting on SPIErig now.  I'm sure others are still unable to log in and many I didn't know about have already posted their experiences.  I'm trying to figure out a better way for us all to get to know who our ar15.com neighborhoods include.  Take a look in our hometown forum for the new tacked thread and a voluntary county-by-county listing poll.  I think folks can use the list as they see fit and may choose to try and connect with each other in some way if/when we have a repeat.
