| Does anyone know if Congress is meeting before the date of the sunset? |
I think there are 4 legislative days left, and even after the ban dies we need to still continue the fight until all similiar bans state to state have been defeated then we can claim a victory although the fight will realy never be over.If hilliary ever runs for prez and wins...look out and Ill see you guys, and gals in the trenches....927

This is true! We cannot let down our gaurd even for a minute! Liberals are sneaky and patient little (bad word)'s who will not stop! |

Keep watch, be ever vigilant, never surrender! I think that having a resource like ARFCOM and similar sites really helps to pull us together to present a unified front. Back in '94, I've never heard about the AWB, or else I would have acted (well, maybe not, I was like 15 at the time Keep up the fight fellas

Kerry - the Senator with the worst attendance record this year - is calling for extra sessions, would he even show up? |

I think the idea of guys in "Free" states selling their (Pre') lowers to guys in states not affected by the sunset for a nominal price/exchange is great but I don't think it'll work for one reason. As soon as the ban sunsets (Actually, probably a few weeks before) I think you're going to start seeing ad's in SGN and on-line from national dealer/distributers offering to buy former "Pre-Ban" lowers for prices that, while not as high as they are now will be well above what the owner could get for it in his local market. Say you've got an old, fairly beat-up Oly stop-sign lower in Oregon. The day after the ban ends that reciever is worth ???? A hundred bucks (Without internals)? $75? Who's going to pay more (IN OREGON) when any potential buyer will be able to get a mega or RRA brand new for $120-$150 (After the dealer takes his fee) that's able to be built-up in the same way the Oly would. Then imagine some of the bigger dealers (Or the small ones for that matter) offering the seller $200-$300 (I'm just guessing here, the market will settle on a national value fairly quick) for that same lower with the intent of turning around and selling them to folks in the states not affected by the sunset. It's going to be a pretty nice guy that passes on the higher offer for a lower he 'probably" spent hundreds of dollars on to do right by his brothers in non-free states IMHO. The good news for the folks in those states NOT affected by the sunset is that prices "Should" come down based on the lower demand for "pre'" recievers nationally after the sunset but where it (The market) settles is anyones guess at this point (?) |
Gees. He hasn't been there for most of the year and now tht they are on vacation, he wants to work. What an asshat Besides, I don't think he has the authority to call a special session. |
For the hundredth time: The President CANNOT renew or in any way reinstitute the current ban, or promulgate a new assault weapons ban via an Executive Order. It is not possible!!! Executive Orders tell Executive Branch agencies how to interpret a law or regulation in the CFR. They cannot be used to CREATE new laws. |

My Congressman has written to me that he supports the sunset of the ban and will fight against attempted renewal. My good Senator sits on the Senate Committee on the Judiciary and wrote to me saying that he will fight renewal with all that he has. Thus, I am confident that this law will sunset, but I will not get complacent. I will continue to communicate with them on this issue, and encourage my friends to also. |
Thank you very much for enlightening me! Thats good news!

I have a very nice letter from Orrin Hatch indicating the same thing. He has seen the stats and knows the real score. |
Thats good news!
