I don’t give a single fuck what anyone does that didn’t serve or did serve. Do you, peacetime military sucks balls, and you’re at the whim of the command. Buy a plate carrier and practice, if you practice with friends even better. It’s enshrined in the constitution Dakota swore an oath to defend.

The militia at concord and Lexington were larping too… right up to the first shots. Buy it practice with it and become proficient with it. One day we may all find ourselves on the two way range and those skills will come in handy.

You can be in the best shape, with the best gear and training. Heck, you can be the trainer for Spec-Ops teams.

But, If you are alone, you aren't tactical.

I know my limitations. I'm an above average shooter (probably below on this site), was a Marine Tanker in the 80's. While I was willing, I never saw combat and am glad.

Asthma, triple bypass, can't run far but can still hump a few miles.

The most I expect to be able to do is be part of a neighborhood guard.

I'm not "tactical" and only try to be better than the "masses".

That said, you can learn a lot from people who haven't been in the military, but have interest to look into and experiment with tactics other people developed and find things that work for a small isolated group with no logistic support. The military as a whole don't work with they type of groups that we would be in if the SHTF.

I served 4 years in the Army and I was about as tactical as a drunk guy in a Santa suit. There was no reason to be tactical in a mobile nuke unit.

It just means you are a prepared citizen, ready to defend your home against intruders, your community against civil unrest, and your nation against tyranny or foreign invaders. Our nation has a standing army but that doesn't mean it's our last or only line of defense.

Outside of fundamentals, military live fire marksmanship training is a joke. I fired like 50 rounds per year to qualify. This was in a highly structured environment.

Almost every single match I attend now as a civilian typically is 75-100 rounds in an ever-changing stage design which I can fire on nearly a weekly basis if I want. If I am in the top 50% at a match I put that in the "W" category. I am humbled every time the scores are posted. JME.
