Quoted: Man some of you live pretty boring/sad/sheltered lives. I don't think I've ever gone more than 6 months without going somewhere, even if it was only for a couple of nights. This year I've taken about 6 "vacations" ranging from three days to 10 days. View Quote its sad, I can spend days ahead of time training people to take my place for the few days I am out, they fuck it up. I still have to log in on vacation because I know they didn't follow my instructions . 9on top of it, I am covering for 2 other guys who got fired. |

11 years. I've only taken off 1 week twice in my working life. I'm 53.

the wife and i just got back from the first one we’ve taken in years. it was amazing and made me realize we should do that more often.

I’ll flip the other direction. It’s probably been 38 years since I HAVEN’T taken a vacation

When the kids were smaller, every year we took a 3-week vacation - Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Utah, Colorado, East Coast, Florida, etc.
Kids are in their 20s now, but actually WANTED to do a family vacation, so we went to New Orleans and Gulf Shores last year over Christmas/New Years. |

My thing with vacation, is that in my mind it's for recovery.
No better place to recover than just getting to sleep in for a few mornings in my own bed. The problem though, is that if I take a day off, I wake up early anyway and find something to tinker with. Being away from home drives me fucking crazy because I wake up early and my whole routine is off, and there is nothing that needs doing. If we are away somewhere and I get up early I typically either start making breakfast, or do all the dishes, or something. My friend yelled at me one time when we went to visit. I woke up at 5am, emptied his whole garage, repaired his floor and then started to wash his stamped concrete sidewalk because it had been neglected. I was having fun. |

Leaving for Hawaii for a week tomorrow for my tenth anniversary. I’m a little scared how much it’s going to cost because my wife just said, “Give me a credit card, I need some money.”
When I ask her how much she needs she pulls this number Goodfellas Money |

Quoted: I did a 19 year stretch. View Quote Same! Then I woke up, got my shit together and have enjoyed many vacations. We have taken two, two week vacations in the last 10 months and a couple 5 day getaways since then. Planning another two week....or slightly longer in the first few months of next year. |

Last May.
I love these guys with their d**k measuring of who has the longest time since taking a vacation. Pro-tip: Unless you own the company or have a major share in it, your dedication to the company will not be returned. You're just a number to HR. When I was working I busted my a** and made sure I did things right. I've worked days off, holidays, overtime, etc. But when it's time for a vacation, I took it. |

4th of July weekend. I have a few days left and I’m saving them to extend my holidays here and there.

Took a long Labor Day weekend in Myrtle Beach to go golfing/drinking with my hockey buddies.

Took at week off at the end of June. Ended up taking a second week off because of the 'Rona

Time off = staycation.
Going somewhere other than your home for a period of time = vacation We went to Mt Hood back in Feb of this year for a ski trip. We lived in southwest WA state at the time. |
|
I've taken a sporadic couple days off here and there, but haven't been on vacation in about 15 years.
I plan on taking a week off next year. I need it. |

Quoted: i personally just hit six years of not taking a vacation. what's the longest you've gone without any time off? and how did you survive? View Quote You've used zero PTO in six years? |

5 years but I have a very flexible schedule and can bank infinite time.

My life is pretty sweet, so I don't really aspire to vacation. Beside lake trips, SxS trips, visiting Belize, going skiing a few times per year, work boondoggles and family outings I really don't get out much.
|

I take a lot of them but never really go anywhere other than camping. I've seen pretty much everything in my life and traveled to many countries so now I just enjoy the solitude of remote camping with just my dog.

Went to Pensacola last month, July went to Grand Canyon.
Going to Asheville/mountains for Christmas. Cruise in march. Destin in July. Life is good |

I'm either going to Idaho or Lareto, MX for my next vacation.
If Republicans win the election, Mexico (traditional vacation). If Democrats win, Idaho (scouting trip to move). |

Am I in before all the self-employed business owners remind everyone else that they work 200 hours/week and they're too tired to take a vacation, yet forget that no one forced them to start their own business?

I took the kids to the mountains two weeks ago and went to NY, moslty for work, last week, going to Az next week and back to NY in a few weeks

I have been my father's sole caregiver for the past 10 years. He passed at 94 years old on August 27th. I am so due for a vacation. I live in Massachusetts and have friends in Tennessee in Florida that have been hounding me to come visit. I'm trying to plan a trip in December.

I typically take a four day weekend every month, a couple weeks in the fall and a couple weeks in the summer.
Going the lengths of time y’all talk about is the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. |

When I was working I busted my a** and made sure I did things right. I've worked days off, holidays, overtime, etc. But when it's time for a vacation, I took it. View Quote This is the truth. I basically have to force some of my people to take every hour they have coming to them. Nobody in corporate thinks you’re a hero for leaving time on the table. You don’t get any gold stars, it’s like not taking your entire paycheck. You know the saying “if you die your company will post your position the next day”? I had a great employee die in his sleep last January. 68 years old. A true subject matter expert and great human being. Planning on retiring at 70 but never got the chance. HR called me the next day, “I know this is horrible to ask but when do you want to post his position?” He had a critical role and was damn good at his job so it was a real concern in a competitive industry. I waited until the end of the month. I wasn’t going to be a part of that. |

The wife, kids, and I go to the beach once a year and I go hunting out of state one week a year. Family and I might sneak one more out of state trip but that’s max usually.
