okay gun freaks, tell me why I should spend good money to buy an AK-47? |
|
[pedanticmode=ON] An AK-47 is a government-taxed NFA weapon. It's made with a milled receiver, and as far as I know, very few true legally owned AK-47's exist in the US. Most were bringbacks from Vietnam. [pedanticmode=OFF] If you mean one of the civilian copies of the AKM, such as a SAR-1 or something...why not. They're cheap, they work, and it's cheap to feed. |

AK-type semi-auto: Pros: Fun to shoot... Serves the same purpose as a tommy gun or M1 Carbine, but much cheaper, lighter, and cheaper to feed... Basically, it's a SMG, but with a more powerful cartridge than 'common' pistol ammo. Almost all of them come with built-in optics rails, and ex-Soviet optics deliver decent quality without the absurd price of western models... Cons: They get really hot when you shoot them, and the 'classic' wood-furnature without heat shields has been known to catch fire during continued use... Not as accurate as an AR (see the first 'Pro', it was never designed for precision use)... Get one... Every gun collection needs an AR, AK, 1911, and some pistol in 7.62x25 |

not always accurate but i find consistant. like mine at 100yds will shoot about 5in to the left but if i compensate(welded sight, can adjust) i can make very accurate shots and ive gotten so used to it, it makes no differance to me anymore -you can usually get about 1000 wolf for $70-80 at least where i am |

Here's mine...I've had it about a year now and it is a kick to shoot. www.arsenalinc.com/images/bigsam7s.jpg The rifle never fails to go boom...30 round mags are plentiful and inexpensive, the accuracy is very good and the ammo is cheap! |
Are those STANAG magazines, or am I just imagining things? (STANAG = standardized NATO issue)
You left out about six nines on the end of that figure. |

Very cool pictures, Duke-Nukem! |

I'll second that. There ain't no AK (well, technically, RPK) with finer build quality for anywhere near the price. A Cadillac at Buick prices. |
Who made that? |
Correct. They are based on the RPK reciever, which is .5 mm thicker than the AK reciever. Also, the plastic furniture is the best that I have seen on a gun for shielding heat. The only drawback is the weight, but with the new "tactical furniture", they have probably reduced the weight quite a bit. |
