Quoted: 50 yards for Slow Fire, 25 yards for Timed and Rapid About the only thing a 1911 is still good for. No other centerfire semiauto can touch it for accuracy. View Quote I really don't know now if that picture I posted of the President's is 25 timed or 50 slow. Do you load your own and are they wadcutters? |

I smoked a fly at 7 yards this Sunday morning with a called shot in front of witnesses, Glock 34 with RMR. You can see a leg and some grease spreading to the right. Only picture I've taken of my target in a long time or Id have something better to share. |

I shoot my carry gun at 50 and 100 yards a few times a month. I can keep them on an IDPA target at 100 yards pretty easily.

View Quote That target was a shortline target, so 25 yards, since only the 9-ring is black. The 50 yard target has the same size rings, but the 8-ring is black. The Distinguished Badge and two eagle badges you get on the way to 30 leg points are also depicted, along with an old President’s Hundred brassard. I think they stopped giving those out in the 1990s? These days it’s a white medal. You have to buy your own tab if you want one, which is always a surprise to first timers. ETA—Yeah, handloaded semiwadcutters, which aren’t legal for CMP Service Pistol. My picture was of a Bullseye target. |

Quoted: Some guns make it easier than others. These are 10yd groups. Far from bullseye shooting but enough to not look like an idiot among people that know what they are doing. I have been trying to slow down lately and focus on fundamentals again it's actually made me a bit quicker when I do run drills. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/77352/B806B8DB-3A06-48EC-BAE1-AE38DD5ACBA5-2113354.jpg https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/77352/06E6D129-78B3-4964-BE85-B5C9E704A7D0-2125805.jpg I have a threshold I want to get to. I want to be able to shoot the dot torture challenge clean at 5yds. I think that is a good measure of competence with a handgun for slow fire. I have never shot one clean in quite a few attempts. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/77352/2BFD14F9-1449-4453-BC77-C5E4CCDBE1A6-2541885.jpg -Mike View Quote |

That's a 25 yard target so timed or rapid. 1911 rules the roost, but p210's, 5.25 xdm's, and match prepped berettas can hold their own. |

10 yards rapid fire 2 targets alternating between the two every shot here is one of the targets probably 3/4 of a second between shots.
Attached File Here is my nra instructor target at 15 yards with my p99 the first time I shot it. I was not taking my time. So semi rapid basic flash sight picture Attached File Edit I shot the PA leosa target for my DC carry permit, I scored a 246/250. I am not leosa but it meet the distance and round count required for the DC permit. |

It used to be 230GR ball, but now it’s any jacketed. That was a big change because 230GR has to be going pretty fast to be accurate, and even then it can only do about 3” at 50 yards out of a machine rest. It sounds silly, but a lot of guys chasing a Distinguished Badge messed up their elbows shooting that stuff. 185GR hollowpoints out of the same pistol would probably do 1.5”. An accurized 1911 in 9mm will do 1” at 50 yards with 115GR. Those are also legal now. |

The better question is, how fast and accurately can you shoot a handgun with full power loads? DVC

In a self defense scenario, I’m confident I could get some good hits at self defense range.
General marksmanship, I’m probably average and wouldn’t waste my time trying to prove it lol. But I do have some badass handguns so at least I look cool shooting averagely. |

40 yards, cold, 10 shots, dropped 1 - 9.8 sec Attached File

I shot the dicken drill a few days ago for funsies.
9A 1 C in 6.73 sec. Is that ok? |

No target but the hit factor shoot I go to, I am normally second or third, first in my div. We have a master who shots and three that are nationally ranked but not master, it depends on if someone guns jams whether I am second or third.

50 ft with my P-07 and 50 feet with Glock 23. Both are recent purchases so hopefully I get faster and more consistent with both as time goes on.

15 rounds, 7 yds, Sig P226 Legion RXP. First time shooting the gun after I got it. Should have taken a picture of the 10yd target, looked identical. Gun is stupid accurate so far. |

Our club still does a PPC match, last year I shot 500/500 39x rimfire, 498/500 37x centerfire, won both.

Just put ~240 rounds on paper this afternoon with my Glock 21. Didn’t take pics, but I was able to consistently hit the torso (chest to navel) at around 10-15 yards. Good enough for me.
I’m not trying to be a sniper with a pistol, so I don’t ever shoot a pistol past 25 yards. |

It really depends on how quickly they are advancing towards you. When they are stationary I can do pretty well

Not as good as I would like, or did years ago
We've been shooting more this year (new range membership) and I'm disappointed in my accuracy 21' and I'm all over the place I can't get comfortable with stance or grip And there is the deteriorating eye sight thing But iron sights on a rifle, I'm dead on it Go figure |

20 yards, CCI SV, '60s vintage Browning Nomad, 10 shots.

15 yards at an indoor range a few months back. About two seconds between each shot. Good enough for government work.
