Probably. Been a while but I was repping 405 in HS with my bros. I weighed around 135 at the time. Spent all my time on the farm and football field.

Grew up throwing hay bales. Farm life makes you strong.

225 for 28 reps is my max.

71 year old boomer here.  I was a nerd in high school.  All my friends that were jocks in high school are now getting shoulder knee and hip replacements etc.  Me, I work out almost every day using an old Weider Powermax V home gym my sons insisted they needed and then hardly ever used.  When I retired I dusted it off, did a PM on it and I have used it since.  5 minutes on a Xiser stepper.  Then 120 reps of various sorts at 50 pounds each.  Then another 5 minutes on the stepper followed by another set of 120 reps.   I finish up with another 5 minutes on the stepper.   Takes me 35 to 40 minutes each morning.  I am not trying to look like The Rock just doing it to keep in shape.  I just got the Xiser stepper three weeks ago after the one on the home gym broke and I can no longer get parts of it.

This keeps me in pretty decent shape but I do struggle with weight.  My lower back gives me trouble, but it has since an accident over 60 years ago.  I said no, because I have no intention of trying it.  Suffered a "torn bicep, distal" in a freak accident last December and do not want to risk it.  We still have my late sons weight bench and weights but no spotters so another reason not to try.

Got me a girl back then too and we raised 4 sons.  Married 46 years next Sunday.   So nerds can get get the girl too.

Seated machine bench press was 282.5, for my max. That's pushing the weight out parallel to the floor, on a universal machine.

Transitioned to olympic bar, and the max I could get on that was 210.  I repped it more than once, but I've never done 2 plates on an oly bar. I did squat 300, and did a 365 lb floor pull. I have a rack, so squats were parallel, and 365 off the floor with straps. I'm guessing the last time I did weight like that was maybe 2015?

First the AC in that room went out, then, it developed a major roof leak. That set me back a bunch. Got the roof repaired, but the leak was still there. Just had to get the main roof done, and maybe still need to fix a crack in the wall. I just replaced the air conditioner in there last month. I ended up doing shift work, and a lot of overtime in 2016. I started getting sick in 2018, in 2019 went into treatment for the big C.

About to turn 61, but going to get back into the gym again as soon as I get cleared. I had a foley bag for two weeks last month. That genuinely sucked. Still doing major work on the house too. One more room left to to.

Excuses, I know.

Got to get my bike back on the road too. Had an accident in 2021, broke a couple of ribs and my hand. Lot of damage, which insurance paid out, after I won my case. Bike was running, then I decided to try and do something else with it, and screwed it up. It's been sitting for a year, and two rounds of radiation treatments, one to shrink a tumor pressing on the superior vena cava. The other in my neck.

More excuses. But the gym is cleaned up, and ready for me, as soon as I can get back in there. I don't expect stellar results after all of this, but I'll see what I can do.

When I joined arfcom I could press 225 for 8 reps @ 180lbs.  I don't even own a bench now, so no way.

Maybe. I don't test my maxes, I just follow the program and the weight goes up each cycle. I should hit 225 for amrap in 7 months. I usually get 8 to 10 on my top amrap for each training cycle on bench.

Most I could bench was 205. This was in mid late 30s. I didn’t start lifting until my mid 30s.

I’m 49 now and only bench up to 155.

We all know ever man on here can bench 225 or more, weigh 200 lbs, stand 6'4" tall, have a full head of hair, six pack abbs, have millions of dollars, house paid for, car paid for, super model wife.
Did I leave anything out?

Not sure.
Don't do gyms.
But I know I can lift 50% of a 400# beam, carry it almost 100 feet and place it on a column 12x a day and other such nonsense 5 to 6 days per week.

I'll be 50 pretty soon and not a big guy, but repping 225 was a goal of mine.

My typical routine is 5-6 sets of 5 reps with 225# or 5 sets 5 with 100# dumbbells.

I do not know what my one rep max is but I have done 275 on a few occasions.

I would love to get to 5 sets of 10 with 225#.

The interweb says that a very low % of people are capable of benching 225 and I was curious what the arfcom average was. Even though I do not consider the bench press a good way to compare yourself to others, I do feel like it is a decent way to measure one's progress in the gym.

When I started lifting back in January I struggled to get 155 more than once. A couple weeks ago I finally hit 225 for my one rep max. I weigh 172, down from 195.

2 questions. How old are you and what are you injecting? Not Saying its impossible but 225 at a bw of 172 is questionable.

It'll be close. That's where I maxed a couple months ago. I don't have the build to put up good numbers on bench so even when I was big into strongman all I could do was 270.

Well first I’d have to pull myself out of my super model wife. Then I’d have to stop counting the billions in my bank account. Then I’d have to stop taking full power shots from Squatdog. Then I’d need to strap my 12 inch penis to my leg to keep it out of the way. After all that I’d give it a try, but I’m just too busy.

I seriously doubt it.   Even when I was younger and lifting more regularly, I was never very good at bench press.

Are you talking about free weights where you have to remove the bar off the bench and balance it or on a machine with a cable system  ?

No clue.  I do HITT/sandbag stuff and cardio.   Weights never motivated me all that much,  esp without a partner.

When I did, it was all dumbell work.

That's not all that impressive. I did it at about that BW and I'm not build for it at all. One guy in strongman was in the 175 class doing north of 300 overhead. He was short but it was still impressive.

I was 6' 3" and skinny as heck when I was younger. Played basketball as I found out playing football early on I'd get beaten down to much lol. Think the most I could do was 210lbs. More cardio exercise's than anything playing baskeball.

No.  I bench press 3 reps of 10 with 25 or 30 lb barbells.  I can squat with 100 lb barbell across my shoulders, but I’m weak overall.  I can only deadlift 50 lbs.  Which is sad bc I do work out a modified HIIT 4 to 5 days per week.  Female.

My max was 205 for 5 reps. As I have gotten older, it's the joints that can't handle the weight anymore. Since I am currently recovering from shoulder surgery and am on a "breathe at own pace and distance" profile for the next 6 months, it's going to be a hot minute before I get back in the gym for anything other than physical therapy.

OP in all honesty I bet less than 1% of the worlds population can properly bench 225, and probably less than 10% of commercial gym goers.

Go to a power lifting gym and be prepared to be humbled.

Not a chance. Bench is my worst lift.
I could maybe get 185 on a good day. Of course I'm really not interested in training bench either.

For a while I could OHP more than I could bench. 145 at the time.

I just enjoy Deadlifting and shoulder work much more than bench and squats.

Yup, but Id probably be off the bench for another year and undergoing surgery afterwards.  I have a lingering shoulder injury from 2019 that keeps me under 185 on the barbell, dumbells I can still go heavy.
