If someone contacts you through ebay to ask a question about the product, and then once they have your email and can communicate outside of the ebay system asks to purchase your item outside of ebay, is there any good reason not to go with it if they seem reliable (good feedback rating) and make an acceptable offer?

Yeah, the guy offered to pay with a postal money order, so I figure it's ok.

His userid on ebay also has 100% feedback on like 91 auctions, and I verified that it was him and not just someone spoofing an email with a high feedback username by emailing him through ebays website and the same email address replied.

they're a bunch of anti-gun buttfugs

I still do business with them, but it's too hard to sell things quickly without.

Red, i do it all the time so I dont have to deal thru Ebay. I picked up 2 IDF issue slings for my rifles by contacting a seller on Ebay. He had two left and sent them straight from Isreal to my door for 40.00 shipped. Its not uncommon for people to ask for a out of Ebay sale, If I see a vendor selling somthing I want or similar I will email them and ask them for a specific item. Most will be able to get it even if they dont have it up for auction, at least most of the heavy sells can.

Actually I've done similar things before, (as a buyer though), but mostly with regards to handmade stuff, where the person offers to make you something similar for an agreed upon price.  I had good luck in those instances.
