I'm getting a Savage in trade pretty soon and I'm thinking of going at it with some Krylon.  I've had this camo method in mind and I decided to try it out tonight on a piece of cardboard first... instead of screwing up the rifle.

I sprayed an OD green undercoat, then took a mesh laundry bag (one that was issued to me in the USMC) and placed it over the under coat.  I then took brown and black and sprayed stripes on the bag.  I lifted the bag and was quite pleased with the result.  It has this "snake skin" texture to it and looks like it would work very well for distorting the outline of the rifle.  It almost has a pixelated effect.  If I had a digital camera, I would post some pics...

When I get the rifle painted, I will take pics and post them.  I got the idea from seeing some pics from a place that does something similar with their camo finishes.

Shouldn't that pattern be applied to a Bushmaster???
