Could any of you that know anything about the XD series please chime in. I am looking at an XD-40 bi-tone with the titanium slide. I know they are kinda the "it" gun right now. But how good are they really? I can pick it up for around 475. Would it be better suited in 9mm rather than .40? Could you guys please post some pics as well. All comments welcome. Thanks Will |
Where did you get that grip? I want one! |

I have an XD-9 and love it. Only complaint is the coating on the slide (it's not the best - esp. compared with my P99 and USP) but since you're getting a bi-tone, that removes the only issue I have with the gun. Accurate, natural pointing. Of all the guns in the safe it's the one that I can put on target fastest and get the quickest follow-up shots on target with. Also takes Sig night sights so you have a lot to choose from. Excellent choice. |
Thanks Janus! |
Can you give any details as far as why "all" of you came to that conclusion? Just curious. |

i had an hs2000 when they first came out. excellent little gun and for 275.00 NIB they were hard to beat. i traded it not long after and missed it. A few months ago i bought an XD 9mm. twice the price mike |

Honestly we just couldn't shoot for shit with them. We had a few jams,, which really wasn't that big of a deal per say. Maybe one or two out of 3000 rounds per 4 XD's.. With our glocks we can shoot really nice groups etc. With the XD's even after 3000 rounds and 4 sessions at the range we still couldn't get them right. Thats not saying others couldn't but for us we need total trust in our sidearm period cause if all goes wrong our sidearm is our last defense before death. ym |

Interesting, the XD was my second handgun and it took me a mag or two to get used to the sites. My "handgunner" friends shot high with it at first as well. Maybe something to do with the factory advising the six oclock hold? |
| I've had an XD-40 for about 2 years now, and it's a great gun. My only complaint has been mentioned above, that the finish on the blued model is prone to rusting (but it's real moist and foggy here on the coast, so all my guns rust somewhat). A little wipedown with Hoppe's every week keeps the rust in check. Other than that, it's a damn fine gun. Very accurate, very reliable. It fits my hand and points naturally. More accessories are coming out for it all the time. I still wish somebody made a .22LR conversion kit for it, but that's a minor gripe. Good gun for the price. |
Over at xdtalk, there have been some reports of jams. I personally have not had one yet. I can certainly understand the trust factor. Thank you for the clarification. Might be some help to the thread starter. |

"With the XD's even after 3000 rounds and 4 sessions at the range we still couldn't get them right." I should re word the above. I wouldn't say it was the XD's per say but more us.. I have heard some say its a easy move from a glock to a XD.. We didn't find that to be the case for us. That doesn't mean it itsn't a good gun. Maybe we are so use to Glocks and P99's that making the move to the XD's was far enough out for us that we couldn't change enough. I have seen guys shoot the shit out of XD's so I know some people they work great. For me personally my pick would be a P99 then a Glock. Just personal preference. And if your got the cash for XD your 85% there on a glock. ym |

Heya's, The XD is the best polymer on the market IMHO. After getting my two, I sold my M9 and my P99. I got my fullsize for $380 and the Sub for $450. I am looking forward to getting a tactical as soon as I finish my two AR-15 projects. Below are some pixures of them. As for the HS2k thing... yah, I wish I had purchased them before I has wasted my money on other handguns. had As much as I like Glocks, I do prefer the grip safety. If Glocks had a grip safety, I'd probably have a G27 and G20 atm. - Gazzy! http://sinclairvoluptuousspacecaptain.com/XD9Gallery/images/xd_manicure.jpg http://sinclairvoluptuousspacecaptain.com/1911Gallery/images/1911_39.jpg http://sinclairvoluptuousspacecaptain.com/GreenXD/images/DSCF0012.jpg http://sinclairvoluptuousspacecaptain.com/GreenXD/images/DSCF0058.jpg |
There is a significant difference in the grip angle of an XD and a Glock. Might have been the reason for the bad shooting with the XD. |
| I've owned a Glock22 and the XD shoots far better, my Glock lasted 52 rounds before a KB. Glock has the worst customer service on the planet. After a frame replacement it still didnt group worth a damn. I shoot my Sig P220 far better, My M1911 best and the XD better than the Sig. I've shot about 500 rounds through the XD so far and the only malfunctions are the reloads that wont fit in the chamber. The gun has run 100% and made it way past the Glocks landmark 52 rounds and still hasnt blown up! |

I have had my XD for about a year and a half now. I got mine before the gun of the year stuff. I love mine, very accurate and reliable. I had mine Armory Koated for $90 by Springfield, but I think they have changed the Park process anyway. XD has the same grip angle as the 1911 and the Hi-Power. Uses standard Sig sights and Glock acc. rail stuff. A full supported chamber. Easy field strip. A very good hammer forged barrel. Forged slide. Visual and tactile loaded and cocked indicators. A trigger, grip and firing pin safety. I am very happy with mine. After I bought my XD 40 I sold my Sig 226 in 40. I did not need it any more. |

Thanks guys for all the replys. I reall think that I am going to pick this gun up. I was going to go for a Kimber TLE, however this is my first large caliber handgun and I really dont want to spend the money for the Kimber. Would it be better suited to get it in 9mm rather then .40. I will basically just be using the gun for target practice. There are a few gun clubs around that have shooting leagues. The XD feels very natural in my hand. It feels way better that a Glock, to me anyways. I like the idea of a polymer frame. But i like the feel of steel. To me thats where the XD shines, wont rust but it feels totally solid in your hand. will |
Didn't read down far enough.

I've had mine almost a year now, XD-9 Subcompact. Easy to carry, easy to get sights for, nice looking. I like the grip safety and I love the way it grips for me. I can't stand the Glock grips, don't know why but I just never liked them. I've shot over 2000 rounds from it and had one stove pipe, and one jam. Otherwise no problems except for some really shitty range loads. Stopped using them and haven't had a problem since. For reference my SIG P226 had 2 FTE's and 2 jams in around 2400 rounds. I don't consider the P226 to be a poor quality gun. I actually sold it to get my first AR, since it was just taking up space on the shelf. I really only shot the XD-9. I bought it used for $320 and it came with a leather IWB holster. I love it and it will stay with me for some time. |

I've got the XD40 and XD357. I bought them last year and I love them. I also have glocks and even carry one on duty, but for some reason I can shoot a helluva lot better with the XD. I've never had a problem with either of them. Since I've started reloading I find myself shooting the XD40 more. I usually go through 600 or so rounds when I do go, and like I said I've never had a problem. I know my XD40 has over 5000 rounds through it. My brother-oin-law bought the mini XD9 and with 9mm so cheap at Academy he's probably got 3 or 4 thousand rounds through it. He loves it and he's never had a problem with his either. He liked my XD40 so much he's gonna get one also. |
