When I try to play a video, it makes a couple of tones, but the player doesn't pop up. I've enev tried to open from the desktop and the program list to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions?

reinstall it from the MS website.

Depends on the type of video. What is the extention?
It might be that you don't have the correct codec
installed.

ETA: Doh, if it was a codec problem, MP would still
open. Stupid me. Go with txinvestigator's advice
and redownload from MS's site.
