As far as Chase getting doubled...it's possible, but the Chiefs haven't really been double teaming anyones number one guy very often at all. Who do we think is COTY right now?
In general, I'm kind of leaning towards Sirianni, and I don't think it takes much to argue in his favor. That team is doing a lot right. My runner up is Mike McDaniel. The catch with him is, as usual, Tua. How good do we think Tua is vs how much credit do we give McDaniel credit for Tua's performance so far. The field behind those guys is pretty tough. Vrabel always seems to get a larger sum than the whole of his team's parts. Everyone wrote Seattle and Carroll off for dead, and they're in the mix somehow. Shanahan is getting it done with his own brand of chaos. And then there's the weird anomalies like the way it can be argued that the 4-7 Jaguars are a better team than the 9-2 Vikings, but you can't reward a loser, even if Pederson's team is playing well. |

Quoted: Well, since Jerry ran off Jimmy Johnson, look at what they have accomplished since the dynasty aged out. Between Aikman and Romo there was lots of seasons of mediocrity. With Romo, they didn't win as much as they should have. The only constant has been Jerry Jones. Coaches have come and gone, Jerry remains. A few years ago, an ESPN writer shadowed Jerry for a month or so in the offseason, and wrote about it. The 2 things I got from the article that jived with stuff I have read previously, 1 Jerry Jones is a highly functional alcoholic. Like, I like booze as much as anyone but holy shit. 2, Jerry expressed to the reporter, many times, worded different ways, that the most important thing to him is winning his way, with him getting the credit. If he had a binary choice, hire an actual GM, provide them the resources to run the team and be guaranteed to legitimately compete for and occasionally win super bowls, Vs what he is doing now, having almost total control of the team, competing for NFC East titles and 1 and done in the playoffs, maybe bounced in the divisional round, as they have the last 25 years, well, he is fine with not winning championships if he can't do it his own way. In general, it seems like this kind of trash talk goes wrong with regularity consistently enough that it should move Vegas lines. The team producing the bulletin board material should be dropped two points. Specific to this situation, Justin Reid is, at best, an average to above average safety, and the Bengals have one of the best receiving groups in the league. This was never going to be pretty, and now those Cinci receivers have more fuel for their fire. The Chiefs secondary is going to get roasted. |
