| Anyone a member or used to be? Is it worth it? Good articles? Good training set ups? |

I'm currently a member. For me for the last two years it has been worth it because I am a student member, only $20 a year. Next year when I have to pay $150/year I'm not sure it will be. I look at the job search frequently on their website. Also, I have ordered several books and the member discount has probably paid for my membership. They also have a lot of training seminars depending on where you live. Now on to more important things: Recent college grad looking for job in security management. I have over 12 years as a Security Officer and Security Police Officer II with a Dept. of Energy contractor at a nuclear facility and 7 years part time law enforcement experience. I have a BBA in Management and an AA in Criminal Justice. Would like to stay in the Western US in a gun friendly state. Thanks. Paraord16 |

ASIS Member here. LOTS of good info on the website that is available once you are a member. Good guideline documents, resources, etc. Be advised, a lot of the seminars and other resources are $$$$$$$$$, and are geared towards corporations. The CPP designation (Certified Protection Professional) is highly regarded, and can get you more job offers than a college degree. I'm working on my CPP. www.asisonline.org |

Thanks for the info guys. I do some stuff on the side here and there in various areas as well as my full time job as the Security Manager for a casino. Work will pay for it if I want to be a member just was curious if it is worth it. We have lots of good training and seminars with local, state and federal law enforement as well as through the hotel and casino/gaming community. |
