I am moving to Alaska next week. I can't ship my ammo through the Army.  I can carry it with me in my car.
Will the Canadians have a huge problem with me traveling with ammo through their country?

Just wear a turbin and you'll be fine.

I'd bring a large supply of Molson and Maple Syrup to bribe every Mountie that gives you a hard time.

That should do it.

And don't forget to say "eh" at the end of each sentence.

I'm a Canadian citizen and I looked it up recently for when I visit.

A WORD ABOUT AMMUNITION

Canada allows the import of ammuntion for personal use. The import of hollow-point ammunition labelled for use in handguns requites written authorization from Natural Resources Canada. It's a safe bet that any hollow-point ammunition in a caliber used by handguns (including .22!) will fall under this, even if you are using it in a long gun.

Of course, any specifically military ammunition such as armor-piercing, incendiary, tracer, etc. is strictly verboten.

Non-residents can import up to 200 rounds duty-free for hunting purposes, or up to 1500 rounds duty-free for use at a competition. To negotiate the import of larger amount of ammunition, contact the Exposives Regulatory Division of Natural Resources Canada at +1 (613) 943-0206.

If you have a PAL, you can readily purchase ammunition in Canada, although prices are slightly higher than in the US.

My experience is that Customs is not generally concerned about ammunition as long as your paperwork is in order for the firearms. Make sure that it is packed separately from the firearms in your vehicle, and out of sight. However, make sure that Customs will find it right away if they do a vehicle search; they will look for it, and if you give them the impression that you're hiding something you may end up with a disassembled vehicle.

Sad..but very true. Our immigration laws are a joke. but then again..so is our deportation enforcement!
edited to add..this doesn't look good.

If you are taking a firearm in transit through Canada – for example, from the Continental United States to Alaska, it is generally recommended that you have the firearm crated and shipped by commercial carrier.

Just tell them you're an armed AMerican and that they better leave you the fuck alone if they know what's best for them.

AFter all, they are Canadian, not like it's an important country or anything.   Yiou and a couple of your friends could probally over take the whole country on a saturday night.  Just catch them watching the Red-Green show.

Ship it Fedex, UPS or USPS. Since it will be going from one US point to another, there will be no problem.

If you don't feel like going this route, I'm in NW WA and will take your ammo as a favor to our servicemen.

Any other members in the CO area that can hold your ammo till you get there, then ship it!  Just a thought!

What Striker said, though in more ways...... as I understand the law you have to have a firearms  license to be in possession of firearms ammunition in Canada now... and more importantly in the Cops estimation, you ahd defeinately better be in possession of said license, I have had cops make me pull mine out because I had pistol magazines rattling around in my glove box when I was digging for my registration (newly purchased).....

Ship the ammo if it is worthwhile, otherwise sell it, adn buy more up North..

just my suggestion
