What a crock! Precision Reflex... "precision" my @ss! I spent big bux on a Savage "Tactical" one piece scope base made by Precision Reflex, Inc. They're marketed by Mounting Solutions Plus, the same company that sells A.R.M.S. and MWG mounts. Bought it from Brownells. What a piece of crap! My Burris 'ZEE mount' Signature rings wouldn't even fit! One ring fit on the rear of the base but the front ring wouldn't fit. I measured the width of the base and it's .835" wide at the rear and .845" wide at the front, a full .010" difference! The ZEE rings both measured .837" The machining on the base looks rather crude for a "tactical" scope mount base. I had a similar problem with a A.R.M.S. #1 G3 scope mount that I sent back to Mounting Solutions Plus for a replacement because it was out of spec.. I don't want a replacement for this piece of crap, I want my money back! I can't believe they want close to $100 for a so-called "tactical" scope base when I would probably be better off with a set of Weaver bases for about $6. Oh well, live and learn. I'll never buy another Mounts Plus, PRI, MWG or A.R.M.S. product again! |
| wow, i am glad I came across this, I was thinking about getting that same savage mount. too bad they are the only place i can find that make the one peice mount. Sorry to hear about your problem. is it the long action mount? what other quick detach base could you use? squid |

You might already know this, so if this is old news ignore it, but even though most people believe that the one piece mount is more stable and stiffer, it has been proven that two piece mounts are just as accurate and reliable. This said, I'm not sure I have seen a two piece quick detach mount? I for one still look for a 1 piece mount when buying for my hunting rifles, but do have several two piece mounts. Come to think of it, I believe my father's safari grade 700's have two piece QD Leupold bases. They seem to hold their zeros perfectly even with the .416rem, .338win, and .375HHmag calibers. guns762 |
| Call me old fashioned but I like one piece mounts. Maybe its the 6 years I spent as a tool and die maker or the 8 years I was a contractor because it seems to me that ANYTHING that is made in 1 piece instead of 2 is generally stronger and straighter. I wont loose any sleep using 2 piece bases though. I was hoping that I could find a stanag mil-std 1913 rail for my savage 12bvss, you see I have this crazy idea that I will be able to mount any scope or dot I own on any rifle I own (so far so good except for my savage) Troy, do you have the long or short action savage? I would love to know the spacing on those leupie QD bases (hint, hint) Troy, I hope you read this, let me say that I read your posts with the greatest respect, you know what your talking about and when you don't you let someone know. There are SOOOOO many wannabes around that make suggestions by what they read or what they heard and not on their actual experiences. Oh , like the guy saying he wouldn't recommend ProEars hearing protectors and then he went on saying that he was unfamiliar with them and never used them. WTF? LMAO. thanks, squid |
| FrankSquid:If you want a 1 piece base,I wouldn't write off the Precision Reflex base.Although it's possible that his base slipped through QC,I would have sent it back to Brownells, explained the problem and waited to hear what they and/or Precision Reflex could do about it before I dismiss their products and dealers.I DO have one of their bases and it is top shelf.I would have preferred to use a Leupold Mark 4 1 piece base(I have their 2 piece Mark 4 bases and rings on a Model 70 Winchester),but I have a long action PSS (7mm Rem.Mag.)and Leupold only has the 1 piece Mark 4 base for short action Remingtons......so I bought the PRI base, and I like it alot. |

Have you considered trying a different set of rings on it? You mean a set of standard Weaver rings that measure 0.010" difference between the front and the back rings? No thanks. The Burris Signature rings are in spec and are highly regarded. The PRI mount is out of spec and is bad. This is the second time I've got an out of spec mount from PRI. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, shame on you. I'll never buy a PRI piece of crap again. I'll stick with a good name brand like Leupold, Burris, or Weaver. PRI can shove their "tactical" piece of crap up their collective asses. What's outrageous is that I bought into the "tactical" crapola and paid $75 for a mount that's out of spec. I'll get my money back and buy quality next time and have a few bucks left over for ammo. |
