I'm considering getting one.

I love the 10X OPTICAL zoom and the 5fps burst capture is nice too.

I know I know I'd rather have a Canon 10D too, but it's $1000 more than this little Fuji is.  I don't really  like the Digital Rebel, I don't find it to be too usable.

I have one and I love it.

While I'm no hot shot photographer, in my estiamtion you cannot get more for your money.

The evil moderator over at fal fiLES has one also - he recommended it to me.

The one hitch is the tripod mount covers over the battery comaprtment, so you gotta de-pod it to change batteries.

Other than that, it rocks.

I was checking out the FUJI FINEPIX  5000 and 7000 and these are super cameras! Stores in my area didn't carry them so I ended up with an Olympus C-750 with the 10x optical zoom with
4.0 megapixels.  It shoots great pics but I think the FUJI is better and you can add different
lenzes and filters. These new digital cameras have almost as many functions as my computer and you will want to pick up a couple extra memory cards, 64MG or bigger.

Get a real water proof case from an Army Navy store or put it in a Ziplock bag if you plan to take it
on your hunting or fishing trips, I found out most camera cases are not waterproof!

Good Luck.

I have one; it actually takes movies with sound as well as the burst series.

It is way more camera than I need most of the time.

Best fucking camera you can get for that amount of money.

I've taken over 3000 photos with mine since mid January.  You can fit around 330 photos on a 256 MB xD card.

Jump all over that shit.  My friend loved mine so much he bought one for himself.

Manual mode works great as well.  Helped me learn how to use my Canon SLR.

Closest you can get to that Digital Rebel or 10D without laying out that much cash.

Just buy rechargeable batteries.  I've had my rechargeables last as long as three weeks where regular alkaline batts might last two or three days.

I'll post some of my photos when I get home in the AM.

Here are a few of the ones I've taken with my S5000.  I take at 3MP and resize to 800x600 for sharing online.
