I used to know a guy here on Long Island who was terrified of this.

Like there is anything we could do to prevent it. It’s not as if Spain is doing it on purpose. I guess the Biden administration could try to sue God, what with Kamala being such an awesome attorney and all. Nature be scary and all that. Time for people to stock up on French toast supplies, and fill random containers with gasoline.

Can we get one on the west coast? Please how about San Francisco?

There is a lot of myth and bullshit surrounding the claim of how big a tsunami this would generate.

Conclusion: 1. A catastrophic volcanic eruption on La Palma is not possible. 2. A landslide is possible but not on the scale suggested and is improbable in the next 10,000 years. 3. The computer model is NOT technically correct for short period tsunamis such as proposed to be generated by La Palma, the parameters used are wildly exaggerated and the algorithm is not applicable to this sort of event. 4. If the landslide happens it is unlikely to cause more than a big splash which will not be noticeable further than 100 km from the coast of La Palma. Water can get in, but is not getting out, the weight is building. To make matters worse the water is being heated. So pressure is building with NO means of release, what do you call such a device? |

damn, thats weird as shit.
I saw a tv show about that like in the 90's and for some reason a few days ago I just remembered it and started thinking about it. I must have seen a little blip about it somewhere and not registered it. major disaster if that landslide comes down. |

Wow, I asked one of my geology profs what single thing would be the worst disaster for the US thinking it had to be yellow stone. But nope, it was this one.
ETA: I think the models have changed back and forth but lately the big one theory gained ground after some research in doggerland. |
