Has anyone ever fired any of these shells?  I bought some for my Maverick thinking
they would be good for home defense.  Any thoughts?

I thought those were for guns specifically chambered for them.

They work just fine in a Winchester 1300 pump action.  I heard they don't work so well in Remington's or Mossy's.

I tried them in my mossy 500A, they worked fine, but to chamber them I had to rotate the weapon 90 degrees to the left(ejection port up) on the load stroke, otherwise they would jam sometimes.  very little recoil, holds a ton of them.  but I'd reccomend getting the gun made for them.

From what I know about them, they work in a normal pump gun but not in semi-auto...

TREd,  What gun were they designed for?

Inuhbadnayborhood (however it is spelled sorry Matt!)  uses those,  give him a PM.  I shot a few rounds through his mossy (I think) but you had to pump the action extremely fast for them not to bind.

They were designed so you could load a boat load of shells in your gun. Also, there is a South African Shotgun(MAG 7M1) that used a shot shell like this. The gun is mag fed thru the pistol grip and is total junk from all that I've read about it.

S.O.G. has em' for $249, they started out more but no one wants em' so the price has come down. I also couldn't find any spare mags for it so I gave up. I'm too much of a sucker for odd guns. I used to love .41 Mags., I could buy them for about 20% less then the same gun in 44 Mag because no one else wanted them. LOL

There was also a much more traditional-looking shotgun designed for them called a Poseiden (sp?), but I've never seen one in the flesh.  It came standard with ghost-ring sights, a heat shield, & a sidesaddle, IIRC.

They work fine out of most Winchester pumps right out of the box.

My experience has been that Mossbergs are hit & miss feeding them - none of my 500s do well with them, but a friend's 500 does; my 590A1 does fine, my friend's 590 doesn't.

Remington 870s must be adjusted to feed them reliably - something to do with the elevator???  I had my gunsmith adjust my wife's pet 870 & it feeds the Minis just fine now.

We've shot quite a few of these (slugs, shot, & duplex) and I like them for indoor defensive use.  YMMV.

I posted about these earlier,  they do not cycle wsell through my 590 or my friends 870 but the win1300 is a perfect match from what i hear......

Funky looking gun.  I think I'll just give em a try and see how they do.  Can't see buying a new home defense gun just to match this ammo.  Great feedback. Thanks!

come on, its a perfect excuse to get something new, just adapt a surefire mount to it, and get some mags.  then you'll be in business!

I found some pics of the Poseidon gun.  I like it, if it is the right gun. Anybody know?

I might have to make an exception!

I found it and some other speciality guns at this website.  $600 bux. Ouch!

The shotgun without slugs is aniemic enough without loading it with even smaller shells!

I shot one of the mini-slugs out of my Winchester 1200. It loaded fine. The target was a piece of seasoned red oak firewood. I shot it at the end aiming lengthwise as if you were trying to split it. The penetration was outstanding and it knocked the shit out of the block of wood! Rolled it several feet. IIRC the penetration was 4.5 inches. I'll try to dig up the pictures.

I could swear that this is a dupe topic from earlier today...

They cycle through my 1300 fine, under normal and fast cycling, slugs and shells.

They work fine in my Ithaca model 37. I have only tried the slugs so I cant comment on the shot shells. I was able to hit a 2x3 ft piece of steel with them at 100 yards without much holdover so they do have a little range to them. I would think the shot shells would work well inside the house. I just wish they loaded something other than 7 1/2 shot in them. I'm thinking #2 or maybe BB shot might be a better choice.

Interesting, but that's not what I was talking about (I've never seen that one... ).

The one I'm talking about looked like any traditional pump shotgun, all black, synthetic stocks, ghost-ring sights (IIRC), heatshield, & sidesaddle - just made specifically for the Aguilla mini-shells.  I believe SOG listed them for a short time, but I never actually saw one - just pictures.

Century (of CETME & SAR fame) sells/sold a pump-action version of that thing (due to AWB issues, it couldn't be semi)...

I tried these in my 1300 a while back.  Lots of stovepipes with them if you didn't pump fast enough.  Not good for much outside of the range IMO.

They are a shitload of fun.  On the Mossberg 500 (or 500A) shotguns you need to have a gunsmith modify/extend the elevator tab to make sure the shells don't rotate out the bottom.

They area  TON of fun.  My mossberg holds 13 +1 of those Aguila 12 Ga Slugs!

I only with they were even cheaper.

I have been interested having this modification performed to my 870 ever since I heard about these shells.
Couple of question if you don't mind:

Can the modified 870 still feed 2-3/4" and 3" shells normally?
Can you give any more data about the modification required?  Must it be done by a gunsmith?
