old-timers might appreciate this a bit more, he goes into some detail about what he likes and why... I found most interesting his revolver talk, and what he was using for service revolver competitions, which covers some of the history of what guys preferred back in the day... it's worth the 20 minutes if you've got it to burn..
Massad''s All-time Favorite Guns - Gun Guys Episode 35 this guys been around a looong time.. I remember 30 years ago when I was just starting out a vender at the WAC gunshow gave a young byron2112 Ayoob's book Stressfire and a booklet of Washington state gun laws... just gave it to me for free to help a kid understand what he was doing... kinda makes me feel like something of a Fudd.. |

IN before somebody shits on his ideas and comments. Damn too late

I've read a lot of his stuff, and value having consumed it all. Haters gonna hate.

does he show the magneto ring revolver? That's a pretty kewl idea...
I like Mas. His AARs stuff was great. And the ammo/ ballistics stuff too. |
|
Mas, like a lot of trainers of his generation, is a bit of a Luddite on hardware.
IMHO, however, he is still the foremost expert on the judicious use of deadly force in the US. And an overall good dude. |

View Quote I remember reading his gun rag articles and the magneto ring revolver got mentioned enough by him to stick with me. IIRC he's a fan. Did he mention Fluffy his pet (Colt) Python? |

I have read a few of his books. When I first started shooting, I bought a few of his recommendations as far as guns and holster go. Was never disappointed. Guy knew what he was talking about.

I enjoy reading the articles Mas writes for the gun rags. His presentation is to the point and yet interesting. Did I mention haters gonna hate? |

I don't really follow the guy, never have.
But Ayoob gave me one of my favorite courtroom lines of all time, from his video How To Deal With Legal Weasels. When defendant's counsel follows your answer with the disqualifier "MAY I REMIND YOU THAT YOU ARE STILL UNDER OATH" (...basically calling me a liar to my face) respond with the words, "I know I'm under oath to tell the truth counselor, and I also know YOU are NOT", which is the same as calling defense counsel a liar straight back at him/her I have never been reprimanded by a judge for retorting with it, and I made Judge D. snicker with it in his own court and he still bound the defendant over for trial (defense was attempting to try the case during the prelim...as usual) Found it! 3:40 marker Failed To Load Title |

He’s smart and articulate. I took LFI I and II from him in the early 90s. He wrote for martial art mags before the Police and gun mags. He knows his way around knives, too.

I like to read his writings. I find him interesting and worthwhile, so I am surprised that there aren't more haters piling one, 'cause that seems to be the way we roll in GD.

Nice herpes
One of my favorite Ayoob interviews! Starts at 2:58 BOB STASCH - Interview With A Chicago PD Veteran Of 14 Gunfights |

When I see people shit on Mas and his experiences, I can't help but wonder why those same people are jealous and disappointed some random book publisher guy didn't discover them, then come into their moms basement and pay them to give their gunfighting opinions on the internet.

Not a single one has any modifications, either, because then you couldn't carry it.

I miss those old WAC shows. If you couldn't find it there you didn't need/want it or they weren't making it yet (Looking at you Kel Tec).

Cool video, I love when old timers like Ken and Mas get together and talk about the origins of action shooting and how they tweaked their handloads and gear. That surprised the shit out of me that they were able to get swc bullets to feed as smoothly in a 625 as ball.

He was on a recent podcast.
And you have to remember trainers usually carry the same gun as the people they are training that day. So if they are working with police officers armed with Glock 19's then the trainers is probably going to have a Glock 19 on their hip. But he did come clean and say that if he was only allowed one gun, he could happliy live out his days with his Lightweight Commander. |
|
What were the guns? I lack the attention span to watch the video to be able to shit on his choices.
could you imagine a part time cop from some woodchuck town being a celebrity today? No Instagram cross fit posts, no tats, no ball cap sales.. I like some of the collections of his articles like "Gun Annual Book for Fearful CCW" or whatever they were someone from here shot a match with him and said he was a great shot |
|
Remember 1979 he published an article in American Handgunner about a lightweight metal, that had a similar melting point to lead, that would shoot through both sides of a level III vest. Poured into a 230 grain .45 ACP mould, weight was about half. Pepperidge Farm remembers.

What are the guns? I can't watch almost 20 minutes of that; I yawned within the first 20 seconds.

You'll have one of those in my day we walked 10 miles to school in the driving rain/snow moments when the words Glock and 9mm will come dripping out of your mouth and fouling the air. Much like your adult diaper I might add. Some asshole punk kid will say. We really need a "zoomer as fuck" in brain emoto. Your world will come full circle. |
