What is the going rate for 1 lb of powder in your area? I just had to pay $24 for 1 lb. of win 296 and I feel dirty and violated! I know hazmat bumped prices up, but damn! I remember the stuff used to sell for $14/ lb. |
It's anywhere from $18 to $21 bucks depending on what you get. I remember when I used to bet a Lb of Unique for around $12 bucks. I've not been reloading much lately because I've not been shooting much lately. Hopefully that'll change in the near future. I really do need to get out and shoot more. Of course two of my guns don't need to be reloaded for(.17HMR, .50cal Flint Mt. Rifle) and the 45ACP is cheap enough to shoot for a while before I do any reloading for it. The K-31 in 7.5x55mmSwiss has to be reloaded if I'm going to shoot it at all. That dang Swiss berdan primed stuff is too expensive to shoot so reloading is my only option.

I really, really like it. The AO is a good substitute for Unique and the like; lights well, burns really consistent; a little slower than Unique too. The SP9 Ball is a nice medium speed rifle powder; very little data available but I started with 335 data and worked up. TU2000 is supposed to be almost exactly like 4198; TU7000 is identical to 4350. Good powder, just use some sense. At $49 for an 8 lb jug you can afford to experiment a little. Larry |
