I don't understand sitting around and watching guys swing at a ball all day long, and hoping that eventually one guy will actually hit the damn thing and get to run around a couple bases.

Usually I don't bitch about things I don't like, but after seeing how NASCAR (which I really do enjoy) seems to 'anger up the blood' so much around here, I thought we you be fair and bash all the sports equally.

I also hate NBA basketball (overpaid ghetto thugs running around the court chasing a ball), hockey (meathead white guys beating each other and skating around after a black disc thingie), golf (rich guys in goofy outfits), tennis (for homos, unless you're watching for the hot chicks), bowling (enough said), soccer (what are you, some kind of foreigner???), wrestling (why don't they stop beating around the bush and just rip off their leotards and F eachother in the ring like they really want to), boxing (take off the gloves and it might be interesting) and a couple others I'm forgeting.

pro football and college b-ball and football are good though.

Please discuss...

Hello Mr. Pot.......This is Mr. Kettle, YOU"RE BLACK !!
I love baseball.
I like most every form of racing except the hillbilly merry-go-round.
I especially like off road racing.

If you haven't played or understand baseball of course you won't like it. Much the same reason I say football sucks.

This thread if for bitching about any type of sport EXCEPT NASCAR.

There are already a couple anti NASCAR threads going, so I wanted to give the other sports equal playing time.

So all you nancy anti-NASCAR types can ignore this thread.

Now back to discussing the suckiness of all non-NASCAR sports.

I played baseball when I was a kid.  It's fun to play, but not to watch.  I'd rather watch paint dry.  That's why they serve so much alcohol at baseball games, to keep the sheeple from falling asleep.

Pro-sports sucks. It is all "bread & circuses".
Sometimes I still like it, but lately it just bores me. I think I would rather go shooting or hiking.

Yea, they never sell alcohol at neckcar events huh ?
Is that to keep the hillbilly sheeple from falling asleep ?

Baseball would be a lot more entertaining if they planted landmines in the outfield.

Yes baseball truly sucks.

So does golf, basketball, tennis, lacrosse, curling and synchronized swimming. Well.... sync swimming is watchable if its being done by special olympiads. Damn those little fuckers are funny as they flail about!

I think we can all agree that curling, biathlon and elephant polo are the only real sports left in the world.

Your comparing Baseball to NASCAR? One is for athlets ( Hint- It isn't NASCAR.) Try and hit a 98MPH fastball....You wont...ever. The best driver in NASCAR will never win in the slowest car. The worst driver in NASCAR will win occasionally in the fastest car.

I'd a thought you had a semi legitimate argument until you bashed hockey.

Hockey is THE ONLY SPORT where the players actually earn their money. Obviously, you've not spent time to learn the rules, or quite possibly watching 30 cars go around in a circle making only LH turns is  your grasped limit of sports.
Plus, you've never played baseball because I'll concede that it's about as boring as watching the grass grow if you've never played the game, but if you have you'd understand the strategy and nuances of the game.

I agree with your assessment of basketball, and I lump professional football into the exact same category. Use a stopwatch the next time you watch a pro game-they actually only play for 18-20 minutes. All the rest of the time is jogging back to the huddle, standing around while the Qback barks off inane words, etc. And FREE substitutions, all game long.
Soccer? This you TRULY don't understand. Beside the athletic ability it takes to control the game object with the FEET instead of the HANDS, the game is 90+ minutes long, you only get 2 substitutions PER GAME, and if one of your guys gets thrown out of the game, your team plays the rest of the game SHORT HANDED. Learning to pace and position yourself is something that the "Football is everything" crowd fails entirely to grasp.
So tell me that sitting in a car with an air conditioned helmet for a couple of hours is "athletic".
Now that you've opened the can of worms, I think NASCAR is about as much of a sport as BOWLING AND GOLF.
TR: I respect your admiration for the sport. At least you're NOT one of the people that are grandstanding for NASCAR as the "greatest of sports". My comments above are not intended for you.

Alchohol is a depressant though, so it won't keep you from falling asleep. It costs way too much anyway, like $7 for 14 oz.

I go to baseball games because I like the sport, I like to follow a team through the season, and I do not hold hatred in my heart 24/7.

I agree.  Really fun to play, a bore and a half to watch.  Football's fun to watch, but I can't play it for shit so I never found playing it fun.  Basketball I both hate to watch and I play it even worse than football.

If you play some baseball or softball, then watching baseball is a lot more fun.  I was really into it as a kid and still love to watch the games.  I have a 16 game season ticket pack this year, great fun so far.  Watching on TV is OK (one year I think I watched every single Mariners game on TV), but I don't have time for that now.  This year I haven't watched one game on TV.  But going to the game is fun, with the crowd cheering and all, while you eat some kick ass polish dogs, nachos, cotton candy... beer.. mmmm..

I'm not making an argument, I'm simply bitching, just like all the whiney ass NASCAR haters in the other threads.

What a retarded argument.  YOU obviously don't understand NASCAR, yet you still bitch about it.  You're right, I don't understand hockey, and I don't enjoy it, period, so why can't I bitch about hockey???

Yawn, see above, I HAVE played baseball for many years.  Still it's boring as shit to me.

I agree, I have friends that played soccer.  It does require a lot of physical ability.  BUT it still bores the shit out of me.

So tell me that sitting in a car with an air conditioned helmet for a couple of hours is "athletic".

Double yawn, you obviously don't understand NASCAR...

I've proven my point.  All you NASCAR haters like to bitch all day long, but you get sand in your pussy when someone attacks your sport.  You can dish it out, but you can't take it.

How many yards do you run during an entire baseball game?  30 yards between bases, and they STILL need steroids to pull that sprint off???  I guess riding the pine does make your butt muscles sore after a couple hours.  Yeah, what studs.

Hey, I never said I could hit a fastball, but watching someone try to do it for 3 hours straight isn't my idea of entertainment.

The only sport I care to watch is Hockey, no end zone dances, sharpie pens, etc.  The only problem with Hockey is that it hard to follow on a regular tv, it need HDTV to really see everything good because it is a real fast game.  The guys are moving at 20+ mph!  The NHL needs to shitcan its Commissioner and front office too!

Like Imbroglio said, if you haven't played and don't know it, you won't  like it.  Little leage doesn't realy count either, more like high school level.  By then you know all the little ins and outs which is what most of MLB is.  Even for someone who knows and likes the game, its not the greateest sport to watch on TV.  The field is too big to get the whole thing on TV and you lose out on a lot.

I stopped following MLB at the strike.  The players started changing teams yearly, so following a team is pretty worthless.  It's just a big money scam now like most pro sports.  Its more fun to watch lower levels, even high school, because the players actually WANT to play.

Im a "do-er" though.  I'll take playing over watching any day.

Oh HELL ESPECIALLY if you are a Mariners fan... i would be pissed right now!!

11.5 games back???

I dont know what the heck is with them this year, you guys have some GREAT players: Boone, Martinez, Ichiro, Olerud, Winn and even OUR Scott Spiezio. I dont know what is going on there. Someone broke a mirror on that club because there is NO WAY that kind of talent would be last in the AL west.

I have TWO favorite teams: The ANAHEIM ANGELS and ANYONE who plays the OAKLAND A's

Here is what is wrong with the Mariners:

Ya he might be good, but Boone is an arrogant asshole. That little bat flip he does pisses me off.  Martinez is too old. Ichiro is overpaid. Olerud is too old. Winn is no substitute for Cameron. Spiezio is ok on 1b, but he does not belong on the hot corner. They have no bullpen. Their starting pitchers are ok (well maybe just Moyer (too old) and Garcia), but that means nothing if you don't get run support.
Their manager, Melvin, is just too uninspired in the way he runs the team. I guess what can you expect when he was hired on after Pinella left to be a placeholder in the dugout. The thought was that the team would be able to run itself, well it is, running itself right into the ground.

They have always followed the same pattern over the years of starting the season on fire, then falling on their faces the 2nd half, age related fatigue playing the big factor. This year they are skipping straight to the post all-star game slide and digging themselves into a hole from which there is escape.

There was talk of trying to get Griffey back but that won't happen. Now there are rumors of trading Garcia for Beltran. I doubt it. He wants a 7 year $130 mill contract. The nintendo owners of the M's are too damned cheap and will let the team implode.

They have effectively swapped places with Texas.

I am not happy.

Oh ya and another thing, what in the hell is wrong with the angels? Just about the entire starting team is heading for the DL. Troy glaus? HA! How about troy GLASS! The guy gets hurt if he gets dirty looks. Then you have salmon- too old, erstad mr. pulled hamstring, and best of all mr. mystery illness anderson!

I put money on this team for 2004 and I know I am going to get screwed.

Texas does not deserve to make it to the playoffs.
