I might have to bite on this...I really enjoyed the series.

Been debating picking up the Monty Python box set as well.

Thomas Sullivan Magnum, III grew up with a father in the Navy, who died when he was ten, and entered the Naval Academy at 18. Magnum, a third generation Naval officer, graduated the Academy, became a Navy Seal, and was sent to Vietnam.

He made two life-long friends, Theodore "TC" Calvin and Orville "Rick" Wright, while serving in Vietnam.

After the war, Magnum was transferred to Naval Intelligence, and stationed in Pearl Harbor. His buddies retired from the military. TC opened up a helicopter tour guide service, while Rick was a club manager.

At the age of 33, Magnum woke up one morning and realized he was never 23. He quit the Navy, got a PI license and opened a practice in Hawaii.

He was eventually hired by a world-renowned author and playboy, Robin Masters, to monitor security at Robin's Nest, a huge estate on the north shores of Oahu.

Robin Masters would jet from one part of the world to another, and visit his various estates, and write best selling novels.

Robin's Nest is run by Jonathan Quayle Higgins III, a proper Englishman. Higgins was in lineage of a Duke and served in the Royal Army as a Sergeant Major.

Magnum lives in Robin's guesthouse, and drives Robin's Ferrari. As a result, Higgins treats Magnum as a leach; however deep down they have great respect for each other.

The series follows Magnum on his various adventures, involving clients, guests staying on the estate, or plots involving his days in Vietnam.

Magnum requires assistance occasionally from his friends, TC, Rick, Asst. D.A. Carol Baldwin, his buddies in Naval Intelligence; even Higgins lends a hand from time to time.

Yeah that's the one that will get people to buy it.

I think I'd almost rather have a "greatest hits" than have to buy all of them

My Sister lives down the street from the estate that served as the "Robin Masters" estate in the series.  Tourists still come, after all these years, to see the place.

I loved that show when it was on, and it'll be of the few TV show DVD sets that I'll spend my money on.

I have every single episode on VHS. We taped them all off cable when the series ran on A&E a couple of years ago.

Many years ago when I was unemployed for awhile, I must have watched every magnum PI episode. 5 days a week  watching magnum PI at lunch.

Ah, to win the lottery so I could do that again

BANG!

I've been waiting for this one since shows starting coming out on DVD.

Did anyone else ever play "Drinking Magnum".  That's where you watch an episode and have to take a drink whenever anyone says: Thomas, Magnum, TC, Rick, Higgins, Zeus/Apollo (doubleshots for them) or Robin.

This game started with Drinking Rockford while I was in college.

I think so. We used good quality tapes and haven't watched them so much that we've worn them out....

Got any ideas?

Well since it would be illegal for you to copy them to sell, I was thinking if I were to send you some VHS tapes and some additional $$$ to cover return shipping, that might just work

That`s good news. However, when are they going to release
"Soldier Of Fortune, Inc." on DVD?

Season 1 was great!

I just noticed a guy about a mile down the road from me has one of them.  They're not worth much these days ($20,000 or so?) but still pretty cool.

But they're expensive to maintain. They were in the upper twenties a couple years ago, but repairs will kill ya.

Unless you can get TC to do it for you. But Higgins hates that.

FINALLY!!!!!!  For the love of God we've had all the crappy shows released, it's about damn time the greatest show ever on television gets released on DVD.  I've seen every episode on TV but I damn well must have the DVD set.  Hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg...

Very good news.  I was getting ready to just give up and buy one of the bootleg sets on DVD.  I've forgotten the site but someone was selling the entire set on DVD (just TV copies burnt on a DVD I guess), a quick google search should turn it up...  They had several other series that weren't released for sale too.  Kinda expensive and I want the official ones hopefully with some cool extras....
