Trying to stay relevant in a world that doesn't give a shit what you've done ,seen, accomplished, etc. Nobody cares , if you can't produce then you don't matter. Some exceptions but that is the general impression I get. Cue the Boomer jokes. Respect your elders wisdom? My ass.

Quoted: Quoted: I damaged my shoulder last year while sleeping. I sleep on my side, and usually tuck the downhill shoulder under the pillow. The arm went to sleep, I woke up a bit and tried to shift it. It wouldn't move, caught up in the bed clothes, I think. Something popped in my shoulder, and it's been giving me helll ever since. More real life combat stories, please! Would you like to hear about the prunes? |

Quoted: I have always said that if you have to exercise to keep from getting fat you are eating too much, but that turned out to be a very unpopular opinion. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: I'm of the opinion that it's mostly just what I eat (or rather, don't eat). I seriously doubt the exercise I do really accounts for much, weight-wise. I just do it because it makes me feel better. I figure the weight part just sorts itself out. I'm in it for the general fitness. If you're working out hard at the gym, I wonder if you're just plain working up an appetite and eating more than you realize (and eating less than great when you do). I find myself hungrier after I've been super active. Which makes sense, intuitively. One of the best ways I've heard of putting it, "You cut fat in the kitchen, you get fit in the gym". It's hard to outrun the spoon. |

Well, I went to the doctor
I said, "I'm feeling kind of rough" He said, "I'll break it to you, son" "Let me break it to you, son" Your shit's fucked up." I said, "my shit's fucked up?" Well, I don't see how-" He said, "The shit that used to work- It won't work now." I had a dream Ah, shucks, oh, well Now it's all fucked up It's shot to hell Yeah, yeah, my shit's fucked up It has to happen to the best of us The rich folks suffer like the rest of us It'll happen to you That amazing grace Sort of passed you by You wake up every day And you start to cry Yeah, you want to die But you just can't quit Let me break it on down: It's the fucked up shit. When I actually can get a solid 5 hours of sleep is a rarity nowadays. I'm 59 years old. Normally I wake up every 2-2.5 hours at night. Need to take a pill for this or that or the other thing.
One thing that didn't change is that I'm just as horny as when I was younger. Ha! |

I can relate to a lot of things here. I didn't notice the making the "old man" noises. The offf, ahhhh, umpfff, and misc grunts when doing things. Like standing or sitting, picking things up, getting in or out of something, etc, etc.....
Buying things you don't need like Corvettes, and Harley Davidsons. Who wants to die in a nursing home any way??? |

When the fuck did my knees lose the entirety of their strength and function??

Quoted: Vitreous detachment. It happens to everyone at some point as you age, it seems. I just spent half the day between my regular eye docs and a retina specialist getting checked out. Crazy stuff. Weird flashes at night, floaters. No retinal tear at the moment. Go back in two weeks. View Quote No retinal detachment here either but the floaters are getting on my nerves. |

Quoted: I've found that it was the big stretch first thing in the morning that caused most of my "Hurt myself sleeping" pains. It's sneaky and might not hurt for a while after doing it. Being very careful not to overdo the stretch has done wonders. I also learned to automatically pull my elbows back a little before sneezing. Prevents pulling a back muscle from the shockwave. View Quote Makes my wife want to barf. |

Quoted: The pillow is another important factor to optimize neck alignment, but it comes AFTER selecting the proper mattress. BTW, not affiliated with them, but saw the TV ads for Chirp wheels and decided to try them. YMMV, but I LOVE these things. First time trying them out when they arrived and felt my back going like Rice Krispies and Cocoa Puffs. When I stood up, it felt like a new back lol. I now use them once when I wake up and again before bed. Be warned, some of the reviews indicate they might not hold up very long for folks 250lbs and up, despite the manufacturers claim that it can handle 500lbs. View Quote Often I would wake up with neck pain that would last throughout the day and other times it would come on mid day. Now it's all gone. |

Quoted: Lately when working I forget what I'm doing for a couple of seconds then it comes back. Never had that issue until a couple of months ago. I don't know if it is the bad Covid I had in October or just aging. View Quote |

The right eye let go when I was getting out of my car and standing up. Instant cobwebs over my vision along with flashes of bright light at the corner of my vision for a few weeks. Scared the shit out of me. Got checked out, no retinal tear but I can still see the major flouters if I look for them. |

Hair going wild. Less atop the head, more on the eyebrows and ears.

A lot of these aging issues can be helped if you spend the time to learn about them. I don't mean go to your Dr and get a pill. I mean find the online info from people who are working on this stuff. You can improve you digestion and many aches and pains. Currently working on back problems with foot exercises on a LaCrosse ball. Started just to make my feet feel better, but it helps my back. Seems things are connected.

Do your balls hang low? View Quote LMAO!!! Haven't hear that one since i was a kid. But please no more, the laughing hurts now. Being 31 the most surprising thing is how much my health has declined from my 20s. I thought this was something I didn't have to think about until I was much older.

Quoted: "Hope I die before I get old" and "Don't trust anyone over 30" were penned by Boomers. They should have really dialed some of that back when they were kids. View Quote It always amazes me how boomers don't even remember how rebellious they were in their youth, the riots in the 70s make 2020 look like a sad joke. Does being old also erase your memories this badly? |

Got some pellets to get the testosterone up so the fun can start back up with the wife!!
And now I am putting on the back brace before that fun... Getting old.... |

As long as the only alternative to getting old is getting dead .......... I'll stick to getting old.

Recovery time increases greatly, even for mundane activities like mowing the lawn or household maintenance.
Nose and ear hair run wild. Eye sight deteriorates. Aches and pains increase. Wrinkles increase. Hair goes gray. On the other hand, hopefully wisdom increases, ability to deal with adversity increases, calm increases. Things that would have really angered or annoyed younger me simply roll off my back like nothing, because I've seen and experienced as bad, or much worse, and I'm still here. |

Quoted: @LUVMYGUNS How has your health issues been lately? We continue to pray for you View Quote @Libertas Thanks! I’m as good as I can be. I’m in my 4th month of a clinical trial. I fly to Boston every month and spend about 3-4 days there each time. The BIG day is coming on May 3. That’s where I enter into the open label portion of the clinical trial and I am guaranteed 100% that I will be getting active drug instead of placebo. I will continue on active drug until the drug gets pulled or approved. I’m pretty sure I am getting placebo. Nobody has told me that... just a hunch. May 3 can’t come soon enough |

This is such depressing reading is this what I've got to look forward to in my future? I'm a month off 75 and don't seem to have any of those serious problems all of you are posting. I admit to the odd ache, being slightly overweight and not as fit as my much younger self but on no medication.
I think it runs in the family, my mother at 94 was taken in to hospital with a broken hip. Have you brought your medication with you ? she was asked. They couldn't believe at her age she wasn't on anything. She died of old age nearly 98. |
