Yes, freshman year of college, I'd been playing intramural sports with ROTC (football, I think) and one of the other guys dropped me off at my dorm at midnight or so, two locals approached me (we were inside the fenced area, which they knew was off-limits) and pulled out a folding knife, asking if I wanted to buy it.  By coincidence, I'd been to the PX the previous day and bought an aircrew survival knife, which I had just shown to my buddy in his car, so it was right on top in my bag, so I did my Crocodile Dundee impression and said "No thanks, I've got one."  Their eyes bugged out and one of them blurted out "Shit, man, that ain't no knife, that's a fucking dagger" and they both proceeded to set personal records for the sprint as they departed the area.  The joys of going to college in downtown Atlanta in the late '80's...  Had a SIG when I returned to campus the next year AND lived off campus :-)

Yes, but he immediately fled when I produced a .38.

Funniest knife incident was a friend in Birmingham. Pulls in to get gas. Sees a bum with a crutch sitting on a nearby retaining wall. Friend prepays, then is pumping gas and he hears: "That wallet...gimme yo wallet or I'll stick you." The bum is there close, leaning on his crutch, knife in other hand. Friend hands bum guy the wallet. Bum hobbles back to his perch, sits and starts going through the wallet. Friend grabs his pistol from under the seat, walks over points gun at crutchy, gets his wallet and wallet contents back. Bum just smiles and says: "Damn...you got me back square."

Yes and I got stabbed in the right upper chest and it missed my lung.  I was 14 and homeless and horrified to go to the ER for fear of getting picked up by social service.  I was left with no choice but got care, I guess I should thank all of the tax payers for covering that bill, and just have a scar all these years later.

Not me, but a friend while we were at a party. He went outside for a smoke. He got several diversity pokes. Campus housing where tuition is about 45k a year. Nice!

2 yutes tried to rob me at a drive up atm. Saw them coming around the corner of the building. Laid my pistol in my lap. Doors were locked already.
After I got money out of the machine, 1 came to the driver's side but I was pulled to close to the wall and he couldn't reach me.
The other was at the the passenger side door.  Nothing he could do.
When I pulled my pistol off my lap and pointed it at the guy on the driver's side. The one on the passenger side screamed like a girl "gun!"
Both took off at warp speed. Those 2 were fast as hell on their feet.  I got a good chuckle out of it. Called the bank the following Monday and told them what happened.  Cops came to work and took a statement.
Next time I went to the bank the tellers were whispering and giggling. I asked them if everyone at the bank had seen it. They said yes and my smirk as I pulled my pistol was what made the video even funnier.
I didn't realize I was smiling when it happened.

At least 3x that I can say it was pulled on me(more if I include walking out to roommates yelling at crack heads). Once walking home drunk from a party in downtown ATL when I was a freshman in college.  Crackhead opened a knife and threatened me and a girl, but had the knife down by his side.  I chest shoved him to the ground and we took off, calling all our friends in the loft to roll deep when leaving.

2x at gas stations in ATL. First one was about 3 months after that first incident above.  At a gas station across from a different downtown student housing unit, picking up some girls to go to Piedmont Park for the day.  Broad daylight in ATL. Crackhead asked for money, I acted like I couldn't hear him.  He became offended, walked away and pulled something out from behind a trash can.  Thank God the girls in the back of the truck were paying attention and they handed me a baseball bat. Girls stayed in the locked truck, buddy and I circled around the truck keeping it between us and a now armed with a kitchen knife crack head. He decided it wasn't worth it and walked away.  We called police, they didn't care.

3rd time after those and other incidents in ATL, I was still not old enough to legally carry, but I gave zero fucks at that point. Had a Glock 27 and drew down on a guy over my truck after I denied him a beer from my six pack and he got offended.  He walked away mumbling and I drove away, knowing the police wouldn't do anything, and I technically couldn't buy beer, but thats a different matter

ATL life yo...

Owned a bar/small nightclub for years. About 8 years ago caught a tatted up Mexican dude trying to sell coke in the restroom. He didn’t take too kindly to being told to leave and really lost it when I told him I didn’t care what his name was or what gang he’s with. He said “I have a knife’ and pulled it and as soon as I saw his hand going for it I said “I have a gun” and cleared my Delta Elite and pointed it at his tatted up face. His buddies grabbed him and they ran out. Police were called and they caught the guy but he had no knife on him when they searched him. They let them go and I never saw them again.

I was in high school escorting my buddies girls to lunch when a guy about grabbed the one girl's arm and I stepped in between them, next thing I know the guy is pressing a bowie knife to my throat, next second my buddy is landing a flying kick to the guy's face. he laid there with a broken nose and some missing teeth, a couple of years later I read about knife guy stabbing a mentally handicapped kid to death at a bus stop

I was 14 or 15 years old. Was walking down the train tracks close to where we lived. Some bum came out of the fence row along the tracks with a knife. Started telling me he was gonna cut me. I started throwing those rocks that are on the track bed at him. Hit him in the head with one that knocked  him down. Unassed he area. Went home and told parents. Cops were called but he was never found. They did find a bunch of blood were I hit him with the rock.

Not a knife, but a gun. 2003, I was 22 years old. Three urban yutes robbing my night job. One had Beretta 92 or clone. They got a few bucks cash, I called 9-1-1 and they were found a few days later doing the same crap to someone else in the same area. One of the many reasons I carry every day now. Probably wouldn't have changed that outcome.

This was back before my days of situational awareness. Weird part is, I had walked out earlier to get something out of my car and saw them standing next to the pay phone, they acknowledged me [what's up head nod] and thought nothing of it. They entered the store and were gone in less than 30 seconds.

You guys with guns are kind for giving these aholes a chance to rethink things. I need to be more wary of bums I guess...I always pity them and see them as harmless.

I had a cousin that dated a guy who was big...like 6'4" and very muscular. One night our families had dinner together and her boyfriend was there. He was bandaged all over and ended up telling us the story of how he had been stabbed multiple times. My cousins family lived down in the homestead area of miami at the time and it can be rougher down there. My cousin and her boyfriend had gone to see a movie and her boyfriend got into a fight with someone in the parking lot. He said the guy that jumped him was much smaller than him but pretty buff and just went crazy stabbing him as he beat the crap out of the guy. He got stabbed some crazy amount of times (10+). The er basically told him he survived bc of his thicker muscles and bc the knife had a shorter blade.

A former employee pulled a small folding knife on me. He was being disruptive and not doing his job so I went to have a chat with him about it, he got mouthy with me so I fired him. Dumb ass then pulled his little knife out and threatened me. I was standing next to a workbench where some large combination wrenches were hanging on the end. When I grabbed a wrench that was about 2 feet long he decided to put his 2 inch knife away.

My other guys said he had been acting strange all morning, we all suspected he was cranked up on something. They thought I should press charges but I let it slide. I did watch my six pretty good for a while, he was an odd bird.

Never been in that situation.

I watched a shoplifter pull a knife on a store manager that was chasing him out the front door of a sporting goods chain.  The store guy stopped chasing and the thief kept retreating.   This is as close as I've ever come to drawing my pistol on someone.

I attended a rich-n-vibrant Jr high school in Oakland, where I had a knife put up to my chest and a gun held to my head on separate occasions. I knew not to carry anything of value so nothing was taken. Unfortunately, there was nothing I or my other Hispanic friends could do. Hell, the teachers didn't care either - we had one incident where a couple of future-cancer-researchers walked into class and robbed three of my friends while the teacher pretended to be looking away.

Late at nite, to save money I was walking from tutoring kids to meet up with my sis and share a cab home...

Saw guy across the street, saw him reaching for something shiny as he crossed the street and quickly I was getting jabbed at...

Thank God for me having an open umbrella...I put it in front of me and jabbed back...purse fell, he grabbed it and ran.

You probably should have called to Police.  Better to be the first to report things.

To answer the question, yes, once years ago.  He pulled a knife because I interrupted him beating on his girlfriend, I pulled a 1911.  He started screaming about "shoot me MFer" but was backing away the whole time.  Police came, he took a few swings at them and that went poorly for him.   Officer walked through what all happened with me and he went to jail for the night related to the domestic abuse I was interrupting.

Depends on the area.  The only times I've called, the only thing I got out of it was a lecture.   I don't call anymore.

Every time they've run, but each time they were also stupid enough to pull it out and telegraph beforehand.

When I was 8 my moms drug addict boyfriend grabbed me, took a bowie knife and held it to my neck when she told him she was leaving him. He was shaking bad, I was scared to death, last time I pissed myself and my mom talked him out of the ordeal. She married him and she ultimately died of an OD a few years later.

Yes at 17 yrs old I was practicing Kenpo and Pencak Silat. Was shopping at Millers outpost (old store) and thought I was a badass.

An ugly cholo ganster walks in has a ~16" blade along his leg. the exact type we had been training with. Hes bumping people Im eyeing him then he harrases a young mother and daughter so being the gentleman I am and the badass I thought I was I made it clear I was now his issue.

He pulled the blade and walked toward me then the local police department walked in and took control as Mervyns (another old store) had called the police already and I walked away unscathed.

Yup. Already stabbed her husband. Had to pull him out of a basement window. I tried talking to her. She told me she was gonna cut my dick off. I told her my wife wouldn't like that, cause she liked my dick. Then told me you're gonna see Jesus. When people start talking about Jesus,  be very careful.  She chased me up those stairs with 2 BIG motherfucking butcher knives. Shot her twice. Couldn't run any futher. DRT. I hate knives. Second person i shot. First was not DRT. Went back to prison. Florida man escapee. Running gun battle on that one. Took a policeman hostage.

Twice, both times in high school.
Had some problems with some people and, one day while outside having a smoke (it was the 70s...different era), I heard/sensed someone coming up behind me. I turned an saw one of the punks with a blade out.  As soon as I faced him, though, he just gave me a smart remark and headed a different direction.

A few months later, got in a late-night scuffle with one of that guy's friends. He pulled a blade and we mixed it up. He cut me across the chest just under my left tit. Didn't even know it right away--adrenaline, I guess. Wasn't deep enough to cause real damage, but bled a shitload. Should've gotten stitches, but just taped it and kept quiet.
50 years later, the scar is faded but still there.

That's life.

My truck got a flat tire in daylight hours on a lonely rural road. I was returning from a hog hunt on a ranch.

While I was working on it, another truck pull in behind mine about 30 yard back. 3 mexicans got out of the other truck, one of which was holding a machete and approaching.

I retrieved my hog gun from the cab (7.5" Super Redhawk). Didn't raise it or anything, just looked at the guy that parked his approach.

In very broken English, Senor Machete stated they wanted to see if I needed any help. "Leave" sufficed just fine.

I still haven't figured out how a machete is of use in a tire change, but I'm willing to learn.

My angry polka dotted redhead wife was chopping stuff in kitchen and an argument ensued.

She comes out with 10" kitchen knife pointed down blade opposite thumb and is yelling at me.

I grew up on a farm. 1st story happened in one of our barns. Second Story happened on a chunk of about 4k acres that I had access to ride on.

think I was an early teen, at the time. My younger brother and myself were fighting for some reason, I had a fillet knife hanging on my belt at the time. In the grappling he pulled it out of the sheath and thought it would give him an edge. It did, I stuck it in his upper thigh, I don't remember how deep it went but it got the point across...

I had forgotten about this until reading through the posts.. I wasn't a teen as of yet. Out horse back riding, I think I was solo except my dog, a rather big male Doberman. The dog would always flank me in the woods, working both sides of the trail as we went, he loved tagging along. Anyways, shortening up the story a bit, a drunk with a knife ended up getting a hold of the reigns while I was horse back and "Just wanted to ride my horse". I told him, "sure, you just have to ask my friend" as I was alone, the guy was rather perplexed.. I called out my dogs name, it was an Arabic - name for "The Dark One".  He had no idea what I was doing, it wasn't like I was yelling Max.... Anyway out of nowhere this big black dog with a splash of brown on it and a huge snarling mouth full of teeth appeared at this guys crotch.. My reigns were released, and he was backed up to his car must ricky-ticky.

I have a scar from almost my armpit to almost my wrist (little gap at my elbow). It’s fairly faint now. Got it in 7th grade. Missed the big artery in my upper arm, wasn’t really very deep in my forearm.  I didn’t bleed to death, so that’s a plus. I hit the guy as hard as I could and ran away.

In 9th grade, I had a guy hold a knife to my throat in the school library.  He got suspended for 3 days only because he was “disadvantaged”.  He told the principal he was “only joking around”.  I think that same dude dropped out and got shot later.

My story.
Got divorced. Moved from the suburbs to inner city. Was on my mountain bike going to the grocery store via a bike trail that followed a bayou. Lots of bums under the bridges. I was used to seeing them. So riding past one he pulls a steak knife and lunged at me. I swerved and he missed. Stopped about 50 yards away and drew my CCW. I was very angry and jacked up on adrenaline. Then realized that shooting that piece of shit was now unjustified due to the distance that separated us. So I continued on my way. Could have called HPD and waited hours for them to not show up. So I didn’t bother.

Once. Early 90s, was loading music equipment being a dive bar after a gig, guy came out of nowhere picking a fight over nonsensical reasons and pulled a big folder. I grabbed a mic stand and prepared to defend myself while our big burly guitar player just rushed at the guy and gave him a shove in the chest. City bred boy who didn't scare easily. Knife went one way, guy another. People care out of the bar to see what the commotion was and neutralized the threat with sheer numbers.

Good times.

A intoxicated ex coworker pulled a knife on me when I caught him trying to steal the boss man's wallet out of his toolbox. A fellow employee shattered his wrist with a 1/2" breaker bar. If he hadn't been there to stop him my option would have been to pull a shelf down in front of him and dash out the bay door. He ended up in the hospital then jail.

Was riding with a Buddy on the interstate and some dude road rages us for no reason that we know of.

He gets in front of my Buddy's truck and slows down to a stop in the right lane and hops out of his shit box with a bowie knife in his hand.
We both step out of the truck with our Glocks in our hands, he drops his knife and hauls ass.
It was fairly amusing after the fact.

Same guy used to mow grass and had a contract with the city to do section 8.
He had a knife pulled on him while he was mowing and was told to give the goblin his wallet.
He produced the same Glock from his back instead and stopped just shy of shooting the dude.

Not a Knife, but a Box cutter, back in High school.

Had a kid pull it on me in the hallway in building 2 of our school.  He wanted a chain I was wearing and tried to snatch it. I deflected that, then he got pissed and pulled the box cutter.

Seems like I grabbed the wrist of his right hand with my left hand and (Stupidly) jerked it toward me pulling him off balance and simultaneously back handing him with my right right fist to his temple area.  He dropped the cutter and it slide across the floor where someone picked it up.

It all happened so fast, it scared the shit out of me and about made me sick.

We both ended up in the Principals office and both got 3 day suspension.
My dad was pissed, he came up there and went off on the principal and the school.
From now on any time I got called into the office and my dad had to come up they had a resource officer in there and waiting.

I was staying with my sister for a while after getting out of the Army.

My sister was at work, and my niece was with her boyfriend in the living room watching a movie.  I was in the kitchen cleaning a kimber 1911 after a day at the range.  Just as I finished re-assembling it, my niece comes in the room crying, with red marks around her neck.  She said her bf freaked out, started screaming at her incoherently (something about her killing him in a car accident).  He came out into the kitchen shortly after, and stumbled around the room.  I told him to gtfo, and he walked to the kitchen sink, pulled out a chef's knife, and started walking toward me.  I chambered a round and told him again.

He dropped the knife and burst into tears.  Saying he needed to go to the hospital.  He then proceeded to call 911 himself.  The paramedics and police showed up (I graduated high school with the senior EMT on site) and asked me my side of the story.  They strapped the kid down and hauled him to the hospital, and that was the last time I saw him.  Turns out he tried to homebrew his own LSD and had mixed results.

Yea, got cut and it made a bloody mess too.

Never was a knife guy. So, here I am at a gunshow looking over a whole box of $10-$30 spring loaded knives at this one table. It was strictly out of curiosity and time to kill that I bothered looking. So, I'm briefly checking out a couple of knives, when I pick up this one knife and can't make heads-or-tails or how the thing opens. I finally activate a switch on it, and the blade pops straight out of the handle and pops a small hole in the palm of my hand drawing blood. It's a minor cut but makes a bloody mess dripping all over the table and the floor. I put the knife down muttering "fuck me & fuck knives!" I press my dirty tissue over the cut to stop the bloody mess which was actually kind of embarrassing.  I can still hear the guy who was standing next to me at the table laughing as I walked away.

Lots of similar stories in the "Street Roberies" thread. I posted mine there, but the TLDR is O was approached by 3 young men from 3 angles at the gas pump. One pulled a blade and commented about cutting me or some such nonsense. I just lifted my shirt and gripped my weapon and they all took off. Called the cops and reported it. They asked if I was ok and told me to have a good evening...

Yeah it was over some food.  Life in the street sucks, I don't miss it.
