Ditching the 10 year old broken down Suburban for a $150k suv ... on a 3 year lease I get it, but I don’t think that I could do it. I've been frugal my whole life, I was brought up not to waste an ounce of food (and got a whupping if I did). Covid has reminded me we could die any time, and right now we're fortunate enough to have a very good family income with very few outgoings (because we can't go anywhere or do anything), so it's a splurge of the money we would usually spend of vacations/fun (roughly 1% of income) that won't leave us with a rapidly depreciating asset. I'm also making sure we're setting the kids up for a good education and start in life and making sure we are set to have a good retirement as well (preferably someone with lots of space, and animals, and few BS laws). |

Ditching the 10 year old broken down Suburban for a $150k suv ... on a 3 year lease Low mileage (70k) but... automatic side steps are bust (one up, one down), automatic trunk liftgate stopped working, top dashboard fascia is cracked, driver seat has tears in the leather... plus it's too big for my needs now we no longer have two strollers and a dog crate to transport along with cases and presents every holiday. Do I need it? no. Will it do everything I need?, be something my wife is willing to drive?, and make me giggle like a girl every time I floor it? |

Probably just trade it in as part of the negotiations. Lower car price and in return they make their money off the trade-in and lease. I hate negotiating car sales. |

View Quote Also they're getting two sales in one, wife is turning in her lease and getting a new car, we're trying to get two with similar controls so she will be willing to drive the bigger car when she wants/needs to. She is getting a GLB because that is 5" more narrow so she can get it in the garage with less anxiety. (It's ridiculous, her previous car has no collision warnings and she was confident parking in the garage every time, her current one beeps so much and shows video with red warning zones that she get stressed trying to park). |
