330ish US rigs running currently. 50+ is good for most Texas plays.
We drilled a shitload under Obama and his Fed land bans. Rising oil prices are the reason for higher prices at the pump. Expect 55ish per bbl for Q1 at least, so gas prices should stay about where they are. The sky isn't falling....yet. |

Dominion Energy spent the last 8 years building gas drilling, pipelines, liquification plants, storage, and power infrastructure. Last summer they sold every last piece of it to Berkshire Hathaway, saying they wanted to focus on their core business of local energy production instead. View Quote I'm not real sure what the government can do to cancel a paid up lease that has already been issued a drilling permit...but seeings how we don't appear to be a nation of laws anymore - I'd imagine they'll just 'cancel' them. That wouldn't fly in the private sector. They also have the ability to impose production taxes high enough to make it economically infeasible to pursue drilling operations on federal lands. |
