by Brian Lumley?

Anyone a fan?

Which book was your favorite?
Tough one for me... I loved the Vampire World Trilogy, but I think the original book really set the tone of the premise the best. One of the few books I have read twice.

Wish they would make a movie out of the books?

Peter Jackson could probably pull it off if anyone could... anyone else would probably Hollywood-ize it too much and ruin the whole atmosphere of the story.

read the first few, after that, they seemed to rehash the same ole.

Really enjoyed the first 3 or 4 though.

Great concept.

Good taste in Horror Tater!!!  Lumley's Vamphyri books are excellent, his Vampires make everyone elses seem tame!  I have read all of them except the last two books!!!

You would need a Peter Jackson to pull his books off, they would be some really gory movies too!!!!

Not just gory... pretty sexual too.... another reason I dug them so much.

The only other alternative, that could probably pull it off in the extreme visual sense that the books paint in your ind would be an anime series... but it's hard to create that dreary British atmosphere in a cartoon... IMO

Yes, If his books were put to film, they would be X-rated!!!!  I see nothing wrong with nudity & sex if it is part of the fabric of the books, plus Lumely's books would also take gore to a new level!

Thankfully with the advanced state of special effects now, we can hopefully see some of the great Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror put to film!

I really liked the first two, creaped me out a little and good writing.

Wamfiri... that was the first I heard them refered to as that.

Good set of books. Read them all (I think)...it was a while ago.

"The source " was one of my favorites.

I think the LadyKaren could make some nice pie

I was thinking the same thing, lol!!!!  No movie is complete without PIE, I wouldn't mind seeing a little Lady Karen, Wrathra the Risen!!!!

Damn straight... that would be a tough casting call if they made a movie... not sure who could fill those shoes, since she just projected sexuality as well as power and authority. The mind of Patton in the body of Victoria Silvstedt.

Lady Wratha too.

Everyone has their own mental image in their head of what they should look like so it would be hard to please everyone.

Another alternative to film would be a CG movie... considering the level they have brought it to after the Animatrix: Final Flight of the Osiris, they could probably pull it off...

I will have to go look for a good Lady Karen candidate, a little tough at work to go screening "good candidates"!!!

Elizebeth Hurley would look decent as a Vamphyri, her accent would fit the book too!
Liv Tyler
Charlize Theron - just needs a bigger Ta-Ta's but would fit Karen well!
Heather Graham -
Shannon Elizabeth -
Denise Richards -
Catherine-Zeta Jones - She would be a nice Lady

Not bad... She has a wickedness behind those good looks.

Check out my post in this thread.. these ladies fit the bill pretty well... Probably a subconscious reason why I picked them.

I went and looked at that thread beforehand, Kate Beckinsale looks tasty, Milla Jovonivich (sp) would be a fine lady of some sorts too!

What MPAA rating should a Necroscope Movie have? Poll

A NC-17 rating would about the minimum rating one could get by with for the Necroscope series!

Hugh Jackman would make a decent Harry Keogh, probably a few other actors But no  Ben Affleck for the love of God!!!

Now the lady Vamphryii, bring on the hotties!!!!

I was pissed off when Lady Karen died. Lumley developed a great character in her and then she was gone before I was done fantasizing about her. Amy Lee from Evanescence would make a good Lady Karen.

I forget for sure but I thought it described her as a blond. That's how I fantasized about her anyway.

I think a Brit actor would be better... Hugh Jackman is an aussie, isn't he?
I'm not sure who I would recommend, but i think someone who is more of an anti-hero would be better... Harry never really struck me as an action type guy. Someone who has more of a "blah' appearance.

I read the first one when this thread came up a while ago. I liked it.

Then I read the second one, and it seemed ok, but a lot like the first.

I started to read the third one, and it seemed like it was just going to be another rehash of the same story, so I gave up.

That was a minor problem with those books... they had a tendency to retell stories from the previous books as if to give people a chance to pick up any book and not have to worry about reading the previous ones.

But as the books take you into the Vampire world for longer stays I think it gets better and better...

I loved the vampire world series... but everything in those books is written in such a way as to paint a detailed image of everything in your mind. When I read those books it was like watching a movie in my head.

I can only recommend you give them another chance... some of them might start out a little slow, but they usually take an interesting turn.

Lumley definitely paints vivid images in his books especially in the Vampire world with the Aerie's, the vats for their hideous creations, and the whole world in general.

Ralph Fiennes (English) may be another good pick for a Harry, he is a damn good actor - he was spot on in Shindler's list as the SS officer!

Now for Vamphyri ladies not in any order ( I tried to limit it to a Non BOTD type pic)!  Nothing like a beautiful chick who will rip your heart out!
Natasha Henstridge:( a Fine Candidate)

Franka Potente (Not as Lady Karen)

Catherine Zeta-Jones (She would make a fine Lady)

Angelina Jolie (another fine Lady candidate)

Natasha Henstridge is pretty much a b list actress. Whenever I see her I think "straight to video" movies.

Caterine Zeta has the looks... how about as Wratha.

Angelina.... maybe.

I still think someone like Victoria Silvstedt would make a good Lady Karen, even though she probably can't act worth a damn.

In her day Sharon Stone may have been able to pull it off, but definitely not now.

Ralph would be a decent Harry... not too butch/action hero-ish. Oooh... how about Pierce Brosnan... just kidding. Definitely would need to be a UK actor... not some American guy trying to pull off a Brit accent... that's just irritating.

Russell Crowe could play Harry well too, even though a bit eccentric he is a brilliant actor!

I forgot a few more, hard to think of a nice looking actress who can actually act!

Charlize Theron

Naomi Watts

Catherine Zeta-Jones (again, she's hot)

Nicole Kidman

I wouldn't let that idiot Nicole Kidman toss my salad... let alone play in the Necroscope movie... she sucks.

Charlize has potential... although if you have seen Monster it's hard to get that out of your head. She can be irritating at time but she's good. She would need a chest enlargement to be Karen in my opinion.

Dude... I was thinking that very same thing this morning... her and Chasey Lain... both would make awesome "looking" Lady vampires.... unfortunately they would need to take serious acti lessons and change their names to avoid people thinking it would be a porn movie. The A list porn starlets all have that Lady vampire quality about them.... very sedcutive and all.
