If you signed up in 2003 under the name SgtEzekielTravers or EngineerBobStanizlavski or PedroC_The_WV_IT_Guy, it might be easy to figure out who you are as arocking has become a tactic of the left.

Heck, uberboomer Tom Gresham from GunTalk was convinced that everyone should use their real name everywhere online, and criticized the semi-anonymity of online forums as giving a platform to people who could say stupid/mean/wrong/critical things and not face personal scrutiny for it.

I definitely appreciate all the hard work and effort by the people that run this site. I'm not being critical of them, especially since this was requested by the members, but I don't understand the purpose of this. What does this accomplish?

If you're afraid of getting targeted because of your views or some type of backlash from the government or whomever, then just don't post. Seems kind of like the same flawed logic of burying guns.
