I couldn’t have a NES. It’ll Rot yer brain.
But....Silent service was amazing...then... Fletcher class destroyer... Then I found Strike Fleet. You would think I’d join the navy after that. |

I have no idea why, but that code has forever been burned into my brain. |

The nightmare of that game, still love it, and yeah I remember that stuff happening, everywhere. |

Quoted: I love the NES. Some amazing games, and some amazingly bad ones too. I go back and play through Star Tropics about once a year. https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi0.wp.com%2Fnintendotimes.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2020%2F01%2FStar-Tropics-2.jpg%3Fssl%3D1&f=1&nofb=1 View Quote That's one game that I never got past the second cave. |

Beating Mike Tyson Nope never beat him Solving Rygar Rygar was easy. Level up to max on the Sunset level and go about your business. Ninja Gaiden All of them, yes Ikari Warriors ABBA When you die and you're right back into it. All hard as shit. Battletoads was impossible. People whine about Top Gun being hard. It wasn't. |

Quoted: I once beat Dragon Warrior while only Level 17. If you really want to see some crazy stuff, watch some speed runs on Twitch. One guy had the Dragon Warrior RNG completely figured out, and could manipulate outcomes by deliberately cycling through the RNG. "Command?... Command... Command?..." Another guy does a speed run of Secret of Mana, showing how you can OHK bosses by manipulating a multi-tap. He also shows some neat shortcuts to skip entire segments of the game. On newer games, it's crazy how far people explore out of boundaries, under the map, or glitching through walls. It makes me feel completely mundane and unimaginative by comparison. Fans of Bethesda games are probably one of the most prolific at that, though the janky code has a lot to do with that. I never realized just how extreme they got until 76. The number of exploits, and how quickly they were discovered and abused, was insane. Some were bad enough to induce a server crash (the strangler heart dupe). |

Quoted: I looked at every store I could get in to and waited months to get TMNT. It was stupid hard, got frustrated. I was probably the first one to ever trade it in. I think TMNT cost $50, traded in for $16 and bought TigerHeli. Zelda II was the best ever game to me on NES. I handily beat it several times. The play control was perfect. Metroid I beat ONE FUCKING TIME then never could do it again. JUSTIN BAILEY View Quote loved zelda as a kid, but couldn't get into 2. the side scroll perspective killed it for me. I think I liked 1 so much I wanted 2 to be more of the same. |

I never got a game console until I moved out of the house. I got a Sega Genisis.
I do remember spending hours on my buddies Nintendo playing Excitebike. |

Funny you posted this, I just bought a clone NES/SNES. My daughter loves Contra already, but is miffed at how brutally hard it is, even with the Konami code.

Quoted: Those games were good. I beat them all. Then I got into King's Field on PS. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes I assume you probably know but Kings Field became the Dark Souls/Demons Souls games. Folks find those hard but I find them relaxing for the most part, just a matter of figuring out the mechanics and the way the game works. I found an old game magazine where there's a little 4-5 picture preview for Kings Field when it was still in the early stages being shown in Japan. Quoted: Simon’s Quest was tough. The soundtrack is amazing though. https://i.imgur.com/6JUU9V5.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjazC45Qkww The best NES music aside the first Legend of Zelda. |

Quoted: 30+ years later and I still cannot beat Mike Tyson. View Quote The key to beating Tyson is surviving the first round. It's near impossible to beat him the first round, so bet best is to just dodge and keep from getting KO'd. He's easier in the 2nd and 3rd round, but you have to get him TKO inside one of those rounds. If it goes to decision, you will lose always. |

Come to think of it. I never did beat Mario Bros.
Battle Toads.... yeah, I never got passed the hover bikes or whatever they're called. Ninja Gaiden.... I don't think I got passed the first or 2nd level. Operation wolf. God damn that game. |

Quoted: I fondly remember getting into fist fights over that asshole "friend" that used the Raiders and Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl and shooting corner threes in Double Dribble. That episode of Family Guy was like reliving my childhood. View Quote We used to have Tecmo Bowl tournaments in my neighborhood. Was always a good time and yeah No Jackson was pretty much a cheat code without having to enter a code. Double Dribble was another game that brings back memories. Castlevania was another that was good. |

SNES was my introduction to gaming but I did play Mario 2 on super Mario all stars and that may have been my favorite side scrolling platformer ever. Loved that game.
The Japanese Mario 2, or what we got as The Lost Levels, was fucking brutal. |

I think my favorite NES game was Bionic Commando.
I mean, what's not to like about a game where you get to shoot an unfrozen Hitler in the face with a rocket launcher? |
|
Ninja Turtles was not on the NES Classic. That made me sad. I never made it past the underwater stage with all the electric seaweed and the timer...

View Quote You need to get an original NES console so you can relive the frustration of getting a game to work. TMNT the Arcade game was awesome. I recently started buying all the games I had as a kid and many of the games I wish I had back then. There is amazing nostalgia to the original NES games and even some accessories. |
