Quoted: $766 was a lot of money in the 80's when that H&K ad was running; all of the modern military style semi-automatics were expensive but the H&Ks were especially expensive. Cheap AR-15s would come later. View Quote It's interesting to see how the '89 import ban effectively killed the widespread commercial adoption of the 9x series rifles. I wonder what H&K93s would cost now if they'd continued to be imported after '89. |

I don't have to go through my boxes of old gun magazines anymore, I like that.

@Miami_JBT are you going to post them in this thread every day, or new threads daily?
Hopefully just keep them in this thread.... |

Quoted: $766 was a lot of money in the 80's when that H&K ad was running; all of the modern military style semi-automatics were expensive but the H&Ks were especially expensive. Cheap AR-15s would come later. I remember that S&W ad and thought it was hilarious at the time. Although revolvers have since become unfashionable, people still claim that Rugers are stronger. View Quote The Schmoe & Wesson ad is hilarious. They spend so much time extolling the virtues of forged parts, yet today their revolvers are thoroughly infested with metal injected garbage. |

Quoted: I remember looking at the HK in a small store in Dolamite al, guy name Frank Camper ran it. I was a year or two out of the army, new job and could not afford it. View Quote I've haunted those stores when I was working Hank's Ambulance and remember hanging out there when on a standby. |

What is this shit about the 80s?
I thought this thread was about old advertisements. |

Quoted: Somehow I don’t think we’ll see an advertisement like this one ever again. https://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Hv2HZS5mpEQ/TQOQeWQ_FWI/AAAAAAAAAQg/PuQar-Zm49g/s1600/cowboyTommygun.gif View Quote The pre-1934 ads for Maxim silencers were sweet too. Women in Victorian dress shooting in the garden. |

Nothing screams more high speed than commandos rappeling... with 16” PCCs without muzzle devices.

I particularly like the hostage ad. Note the criminals considerately left the door open for the police. You don't see that many polite criminals anymore.

Neat and nostalgic. Sadly, in those days a lack of extra funds limited me to admiring the ads.

I like this idea Miami. It’s a much needed break from the political stuff here.

I'm currently sitting on 375 specific different advertisements ranging from the early 1900s to the 2000s.

The good old days , soldier of fortune and many other mags , multiple army-navy stores with their unique smell which was the same in each one . kill a commie for mommy and tested in Japan nuclear mushroom shirts , and being a broke ass kid just getting started after reading Mack Nolan paperbacks. I realize I have never grown up even at 57 lol. Thanks Miami , subscribed
