I wanted to remove my grips from my Kimber to install some new grips I bought and the screws came out the with the bushing. So how do I remove the bushing from the screw without SCREWING up the threads!

One tip I heard of was to lock-tite the bushing to the frame and then taking out the scew, but I don't really want to do this as it will be very difficult to remove bushing from the frame later. Any other ideas??

Notice: The above was posted in hand gun forum and only received 1 reply in three days, I thought I would post it where there is more traffic, also since then I have attempted to loc-tite the bushings as recomended and they still backed ot of frame.
I'm starting to think that the situation is hopeless, I'm desperate for new ideas!

A padded vise or padded-jaw pliers will work wonders. If not, brownells is your friend.

Thanks Ninja, I already tried the loc-tite and it didn't hold, I guess I'm going to have to buy new bushings

hold on,
before you buy new bushings.
try it again.

this time use blue locktight  tighten them down "hard".
let sit 24 hrs.
then install the panels and screws.  and tighten the screws finger tight.  don't go gorilla on the screws.

i have had a colt or two in the past that did the same, i "staked" the threads a tad on the bushing, and they were reinstalled again, never came loose again, even with multiple grip removals

Try wrapping the bushing threads with duck tape. Grasp with small set of channel locks and remove screw. Good Luck.

The point is, why not stock up on extras of both?  Or do you just go through life waiting for shit to break?  No spare tire in the car, no flat kit on the bike, no spare batteries for your optic, no spare mag for your pistol, never back up your hard drive, don't keep any food in the fridge..... etc.

for now just grab the raised part with some needle-nose vice grips.  Or do you not bother to keep tools around the house either?

Yeah, and while you're at it, buy another weapon just like it for a "parts gun".
