If you want to be a LARPer go for it man, and wear some 5.11 or tactical cargo pants while you are at it.

I want an olive drab or subdued "As Seen On TV" patch so bad to put on my helmet. All I can find is bright red and white. I only have olive drab US flags and an O+ patch on my gear. Another one that would be good would be "No Soup For You!"

I kept getting them as gifts or prize packs or freebies in orders so I started collecting them.

Quoted: They're like $4-$8 typically (I don't think I've ever paid more than $10 myself), with some being $10-$20, but at that point you're just paying a seller's premium, and yes, patch collecting is fun. You do realize most patch collectors aren't actually walking around with a vest covered in them every time they go to wal-mart, right? Usually I'll throw one on a backpack, and occasionally someone will catch me on the street, and say "oh hey I know where that's from, that's cool!" or whatever, and we get to talking about related interests. Making friends and having fun, pretty wholesome in my book. View Quote This is GD. Having fun. Talking to strangers. Not being an anti-social weirdo. We don't do that here. |

Why in the fuck would you? Mil I get hell even a boy/cub scout...

More than a decade ago, 10:30 am sitting in front of a computer in NY
Arfcom: "Don't wear camo if TSHTF you'll stand out in your poser gear" etc pages and pages on how camo gear will get you killed 8:30 pm in a gas station in West Virginia waiting to pay for gas and a soda-every single guy who comes in to get gas, cigarettes and/or beer has on hat, shirt or jacket with some camouflage, but GD says you're going to skulk through this crowd wearing all REI crap like you're a ninja |

OP... I for one am glad to see more women, like you, getting into shooting. Mike is a weird name for a broad, though.
No one, who matters, gives a fuck what you decide to wear or not wear. There's pros and cons for all sorts of shit you may or may not choose to do. You make those calls, not the whims of has-beens or wish-they-would-haves. Not even the still-doin-its get a say in what ever it is you may want to do. Weigh your options and do what comes out square in your own personal math. The only sensible argument in this thread is the whole being mindful of shit you wouldn't want a prosecutor to present at your trial for a legitimate self defense shooting. But, like I said, that's your call. |

Quoted: Same. I got some at various matches, and as swag packs from manufacturers. Then I bought a couple that I thought were funny or just neat. I have one on the headliner of my truck covered by a visor. The only reason why its there is because it was on a backpack and I took it off before heading out in public for the sake of not drawing attention to myself. The only reason why its still there is because I've never had a reason to take it down. I've got various patches on various bags, but I usually take them off when I go out because, like I said, I just don't like drawing attention to myself. The only exceptions I make to that rule are: 1 - Boy Scout camp outs I'll leave my silly patches on. The boys laugh at them and think they're cool. B - When I go to shooting events, sometimes I'll leave match related patches on my bags. If they weren't then hundreds of thousands would be stealing soooo much Valor.
I can see the angry meal team sixer, struggling to remove his punisher patch from his XXXL PLate carrier Anyways, moral patches are not the same thing as unit patches. Never heard a mil. guy get upset that someone was rocking a banana mag patch or a Boog patch. |
|
They are just some fabric design with hook and loop, who care what anyone thinks. As long as it's not some unit patch or something.

Quoted: Don't wear anything on serious gear you don't want to see a prosecutor wave around in a courtroom. View Quote This is dead accurate. I wouldn't actually wear any out and about, but I admit I am a patch whore and I've got a couple of patch panels up on a wall. Some are mil/le service related, others were received at classes and others were given by manufacturers of gear/equipment, etc. I think they're cool and it's kind of like a look in the rear view to see where I've been and what I've done when I glance at the panels. And, again, I do admit I just think they're cool. It beats collecting thimbles, spoons or stamps IMO. |

Who are these patches for? Are Delta Force guys actually running around with waifu girls and white claw cans on their equipment?
