CavVet,

I'm not so sure we're comfortable with the terminology you're using for your snack.....

It's not the carbs, it's the sugar.

Diabetes.com

Perhaps the most important aspect of the dietary management of diabetes is understanding carbohydrates and their role in blood sugar fluctuations. The facts are that gram for gram, complex carbohydrates found in breads, cereals, potatoes, vegetables, and other foods raise the blood sugar approximately the same total amount as simple sugars (which are also a form of carbohydrate). After all, carbs are composed of chains of sugar molecules, so it shouldn't be too surprising that they boost blood glucose levels.

Carbohydrates and the glucose they generate are an energy source - the dietary fuel of the human body. Insulin produced by the pancreas enables our cells to be able to burn this carb-generated glucose. This is why determining the amount of carbohydrates in a meal is so important for people with diabetes. Carbs translate to a rise in blood glucose levels, and diabetes means that normal insulin production and/or processing is impaired and blood sugar must be controlled through other means.

When I went to the 3 day Hello your life is changed forever class, they went over how sugars change into carbs, and how that affects your body, or not.

The carb allowance was, of all things, by heighth! I scored big time. I can have 90 carbs per meal (3 a day) and 15 per snack (3 a day). I try and stay under that, but lost 70 lbs from that.

I dont know what type of diabetes you have, or what you were taught or learned about it, but it is all about the carbs.

I love anything cinnamon (except for cinnamon schnapps, I have bad memories of one St. Patrick's Day due to Fire Water).  Atomic Fireballs and Red Hots are great stuff.

I find that the AFs are a bit too big so I normally take my Leatherman and wrap each AF in a napkin and pound on the wrapped AF until it breaks into more manageable pieces.  This also makes the AF last longer.
