Ny uncle has a bad back but he is able to golf. I want to take him shooting.  I fuigure him firing an ar15 9mm and ak47 shouldn''t be bad. He doesn't have any  slip disc's or anything just muscle pain.  I have a 7.62X54R Romak3 and was wondering if that would do him in.   does anybody here that shoots have a bad lower back. I don't think there is any twisting motion like in golf.  This might be a stupid question to ask just don't want to put mu uncle through any more hell then he already is in

Perhaps you should consider having him shoot from a bench? He may also be able to shoot from a sitting position. Having had some lower back trouble before I can say that shooting while standing can be hard on you. Not to mention that a 7.62x54 kicks a bit. Good luck and kudos for trying to get the guy outside.

Last time I went shooting with family, & my lower back was out, I found it hard to stand, & couldn't sit at all. I was a total spectator. I couldn't have held an AR or any other gun in the proper position. If your uncle is still able to golf, I don't see were shooting would be a problem for him. Just don't have him shoot a big caliber while standing as it could jerk him back & cause a muscle spasm he would hate.
Very thoughtful nephew.[:D]

A Romak 3 even though it shoots a 7.62x54r round is a very mild recoiling rifle.  I shouldn't see any problems with him shooting the Romak.  I also have back probems, and the only rifle I ever have trouble shooing a lot is my M44

If he can golf, he can shoot.
