Leather vs Kydex? Which one is best? I’ve had several BladeTech holsters for years but the belt loops keep breaking.

I still use leather iwb and owb

I tried kydex and I always go back to leather.

I know of at least one.

The belt loops will never break.

Most of my IWB holsters are leather and the biggest part of those are partially or full exotic.

I’m waiting on a full elephant IWB holster and belt for my Staccato right now.

Yup.

I have some kydex for OWB range use or out in the woods. For CCW it's leather 100%. Quality leather will never let you down. Should be getting my new Milt Sparks any day now....

I have a Don Hume OWB paddle and a Taqua belt slide I use with my G19. The Hume is quicker on/off but the Tagua is more comfortable for all day carry.
I have and sometimes use kydex but leather just works better for me.

On the rare occasion I carry my S&W 915, its a Crossbreed Supertuck.

My current IWB is elephant and shark. Exotics are great.

Poor retention; gets wet, dry, old, bendy. Kydex just works. By comparison, leather is an Uncle Mike's nylon for Rolex wearers.

Oh I see, you've only ever had shitty leather. Yeah, those things happen to shitty leather holsters. Quality ones "just work" as well.

ETA- I could put my loaded HK45c in my VMII and shake it upside down and it wont go anywhere. A properly made leather holster won't dry out, be hurt by water or sweat, or get bendy.

Depends on what kind of leather.  Horsehide is superior to cowhide.

I work plainclothes and I have tried many different OWB holsters, I always end up going back to leather. To me leather has give that kydex dosent so I feel it is more comfortable when at a desk or sitting in a vehicle.

On the rare occasion I end up in a uniform I will only use kydex, the retention options are just better.

Just bought a Galco Ankle Glove that the holster portion is leather.  Very nice quality.  Surprised at the comfort actually.  Using it for formal wear. G26.

I prefer leather OWB holsters, own 1 or 2 kydex and it's cause they came with the gun.

I only carry IWB under certain circumstances and even then they are not kydex

I started out with a Milt Sparks and then custom makers before the Kydex revolution. Leather is like a 1911, you can dump time and money into coping, but it never quite manages to match cheap tupperware.

I own both. I used to think leather was better. Now, unless I'm trying to preserve the finish of a gun as much as possible or going to a bbq, I prefer Kydex. The more I used it, the more I found I liked it, even for inside the waistband carry.

Kydex for plastic framed autos, leather for everything else.

I must be doing something wrong with the 5-6 high end leather holsters I've owned over the years. Must have just got lucky.

Most of my holsters are leather; I have a couple of nylon cheapies for a couple of cheap handguns. (Star BMs).

The only kydex I own is a actually a hybrid. Crossbreed MiniTuck IWB -- leather on the inside, kydex on the outside. It's the best of both worlds, and probably the most comfortable and effective IWB holster I've ever owned. I carry A Walther PPS M2 with a Crimson Trace laser on it, and frequently forget I'm wearing this combination altogether.

After buying a shit ton of kydex when I bought my first 9mm double stack, I'm moving back to leather for as many guns as possible.  The only "plastic" holsters I anticipate keeping are Safariland retention holsters for OC.

Leather for IWB and OWB revolver carry.  Kydex for OWB auto carry, hybrid for IWB auto carry.
