I went to Huntsville to see Hellboy lastnight  and was surprised by how good it was. The scifi stuff doesn't usually appeal to me but this one was done with great special effects and animation.

Anybody else see it yet? If so, didn't the FBI type speak of four freaks being at the facility that Hellboy was staying at? Hellboy, fish type thing, flaming girl, and who else? Maybe I heard it wrong and there were only supposed to be three.

Also there was som gunplay with Garands killing some Nazis.

About a 6 out of 10 overall and 7 out of 10 for action. IMHO

The title alone makes me not want to see it.

I'll consider it a possible rent.

It's a borderline "sit in a theatre" quality movie but a definite "long weekend with nothing to do" rental.

It kinda cracks me up. I went to see this with a bunch of friends on Friday....we're all pretty much a bunch of geeks, so it seemed like the perfect film. I'd not read a single issue of the comic, and really didn't know anything about the story going in to the film. Despite this, I had very high expectations, from what I've seen and read...

Wouldn't you know it, everyone came out of the film saying it was 'eh'....I thought it fucking rocked. Definitely planning to see it again.....and this even with the image of Ron Perlman as Vincent from Beauty and the Beast, and wondering when the heck Abe would start yakking about Maris....

I've never read the comic and really had no expectations, but I ended up really enjoying it.

I'll probably end up buying the DVD.

Selma Blair is fookin' hot, so I'm definitely gonna see it.

I gave it a B+, the actor who played Hellboy was great.

I also liked the occult Nazi story and the throw away line about Hitler dying in 1958.

Went in expecting very little, got very little in return.

Decent plot, poor conclusion.  Good action, but shitty story progression.

One minute he's "grounded", the next he's sitting on a rooftop throwing rocks?

Huge dissapointment.

Selma Blair is still hot, but there wasn't very much of her in the film. The movie felt loooong even though it really wasn't.

It was better than expected. The evil giant Calamari were lame though. Selma blair is definately NOT hot. She looks "disabled", literally, like Joan Cusack. Was she born with Downs syndrome or something?
